On the icons I think they cut the mount back for more clearance...

Replaced. When I pulled the old one off I could see the damage. The mount definitely came down on the resi line like everyone here said.

Before this I was more worried about the reservoir line being too close to the tire.

One more thing to look out for.

    Thanks for the correct diagnosis.

I'm running into a similar sort of line issue with my 2.0s, the fitting is a 90 degree one and I haven't gone to install them yet because it seems like the line is an awkward length and I'd rather have a game plan than just throw them on and potentially bust a line.

    Someone showed me this picture:
I see how this would work on the passenger's side, but on the driver's side you'd still be maybe an inch or two short of being able to mount on the frame...

I have resi clamps too but those seem like you would have to twist the line to get the resi to sit flush with the bottom of the shock body.

Also, semi-unrelated: how many of you are running roost guards? Are they super necessary or not really worth the effort?

Roost guard on the passenger side only. I don't think one will fit on the drivers side. I like it. It helps protect the shaft from damage.

I’m running the 2.5 non rr coilovers and I love them. Perfect for what I need. Looking to get some rear rr shocks to support 3-4” of lift. If anyone has any for sale...

With Fox 2.5 ext. travel C/O, Fox rear 2.0 RR and medium Dakar leaf pack. Extra weight is front plate bumper, Smittybilt 9.5 winch w/synthetic line (~40lb. over stock combo), SOS Sliders and rear plate bumper (same weight as stock plus hitch). Measurements taken from center of hub to bottom of fender flare with a full tank of fuel.
    Before lift:
    DF 19.75
    PF 20
    DR 21.75
    PR 22.120
Lift initially gave me 2.75" up front (at Fox's max rec.) and 2.75" rear. I now have it cranked about 5 threads more than Fox recommended to get to the numbers below with the added weight.
After 10K miles of lift installed:
    DF 21.5
    PF 22
    DR 24.25
    PR 24.5
As you can see, I'm not anywhere near the 3" lift (actual lift in front now is 1.75") and will be going to 14"/650lb King springs as soon as I have the time to finish stripping the blue paint, reprinting them and then going somewhere to get the springs swapped out. I do all my own mechanical work/welding but I don't have access to a spring machine that'll remove/replace these coil springs.

Deaver expo 3” leaf pack with 5100 extended shocks. I meant to put 3-5” cause Fox makes a rear rr shock for 3-5” of lift

Gotta measure with that pack, I have the fox’s that say their for 3-5” but they don’t even extend enough for Dakar’s. I would bet you need a longer shock to take advantage of the droop that pack can give.

They don't quite extend as long as the Dakars but the more important part, the compressed length, is perfect. I'm running the 3-5" shocks w/Dakars & stock bump stop. I get maximum compression w/out crushing the shock.

There almost perfect for Dakar’s, I agree but I’m pretty sure the expo pack can droop even further.

I'm looking at getting 2.0 front coil overs and and 2.0 rears but have a couple questions for you guys. Do the coil overs come at a preset height? and what is the spring rate? I have bilstein/ ome 880's on the front right now and bilstein rear. I have an ARB front bumper and RTT in the bed and sit about an inch higher than stock front and rear. Im not focused on a lift, I just want the better ride and weight handling, if theres a better place for this let me know

For 2nd gens they come preset to 2” lift and have 600lb springs. I have no idea if that’s different for the 1st gens but maybe @HeadStrong Off-Road could tell you.

I run a 1/4" spacer on the drivers side and still need a turn or 2 more on the drivers side.
I put in the 650 springs much better just a little preload and good to go...

I would generally recommend AGAINST this method. By spacing the entire shock down that one side now had more droop and less compression travel on the shock relative to the chassis. In droop this can allow the shock to extend too far and damage the UCA's or LCA's. In compression this can allow the shock to bottom out before the frame bump stop which is hard on the seals and bearings.

Running uneven amounts of preload is the correct solution and is very common on many vehicle platforms (Tacoma, 4Runner, Wranglers...)
