Dude was cool, on the SDSU Baja team, bought the truck two weeks ago from a used car dealer in Escondido and was out thrashing the truck and doing John proud.


The blue BMW busted his oil pan on this first jump. Huge bummer dude ripped that thing around the track on the earlier runs.

Im doing a combo of Juggernaut Tactical HellFighter kit and Hogue Freedom Fighter Fixed Magazine Solution.

With the Hogue portion you drill and tap a hole in the receiver that basically puts a spring loaded stopper to block the mag release button when the upper and lower are assembled.
The Juggernaut Tactical provides a new spring loaded rear takedown pin that when pressed breaks the action just enough to be legal and also allows the plunger that locks the mag release to pop out and unlock it so you can drop the mag.

Just got the parts today and for the most part looks like it will work well enough.

It’s 100% John’s old truck hahaha. I actually have John’s old roof led bar mounts I’m going to give to the guy. He’s fully an Offroad enthusiast so it went to a good new owner who is already abusing it like John would like

 

New owner is a nice kid. I'm dead. It's a mind trip to launch your truck at the fair and drive it back home. I'll play with the gopro tomorrow.

Hadn't heard of that offering until now. Truthfully I have kinda ignored the whole thing until the last minute when I came across the setup I am using the other day.

From just looking at their website and YouTube videos my initial thoughts are.
It will work
Its over engineered
Takes away from the aesthetics of the rifle
Expensive
Changes the manual of arms
Requires moving your firing hand from the pistol grip
Doesn't really have a good solution to handle double feeds / stove pipes / etc..

I will say with the JT kit its very uncomfortable flipping the selector from safe to fire because of the space between the button and the selector.
