I’ve driven a Model X 60D, and the Model S P100D. Say what you want about Tesla’s but wow driving those cars are an experience. The P100D is one of the fastest production cars currently made, and holy shit - it really is fast.

Sitting at a complete stop and hitting the accelerator and reaching 60 MPH in less than 3 seconds is surreal. You know that feeling when you’re going down a roller coaster? That’s what you feel when you do pedal-to-the-metal in that car.

I can’t complain about the tech either. Self-driving, and the touchscreen infotainment system with an internet browser. The safety factor and safety rating really add to the car as well.

I’m on a truck forum, and this is definitely an unpopular opinion. But I like Tesla. I like what they’re doing to the car industry. Elon Musk is truly the real life equivalent of Tony Stark.

It’s not my car anyway. I wouldn’t give up this truck in a million years.

I don’t know how it happened. It just started fraying one day and it got to the point where it would just start ripping every time I tried to remove it from the retractor. I’d have to trim it to get it to retract.

I’m very surprised how smooth and pliable the new Seatbelt is. The old one was much like yours, the fabric was stiff and covered in god knows what. I’ve seen people pull out the whole seatbelt, clamp it, and soak it in a bucket of hot soapy water. Apparently it helps a lot.

I never got to that point with my driver’s belt. Probably will do it on my passenger side one day.

Like I said, I hope more people get into em. It's like a supercar in my book, I have zero interest in those either. There's no way I can have fun with them, they're at the top of their game. Nothing for me to mess with, it just becomes a quick appliance. I don't need a fast thing I can't mess with, and there's no real fun in having a fast car I didn't build as far as I'm concerned.

Plus they're very predictable after you've driven them for a bit, the fun wears off fast.

Musk seems like a good dude, when he comes up with something I care about I won't have any moral quandries giving him my money.

Another reason why I chose the Tacoma over the E320 as a DD. What the hell am I going to mod on a German luxury car?

0-60 in 2.8 seconds in complete silence is also another thing.

They aren't silent, that VFD and motor make some interesting frequencies of their own.

And you can have fun with your Merc, it's plenty old to start improving, plus they're weak from the factory anyway

I'm waiting for someone to gut a Tesla and throw a nasty V8 in it. Would be awesome to show up to the track with that, have an old Prius motor pushing it to the start line, get up to do your burnout and hear open headers roar to life.

No haha, the hellcat motor is funny, because it is nowhere near it's power potential. I wonder how Mopar decided that it should stop at 703hp. People have gotten that setup to be dailyable at 1000hp+ and few guys are running them well past 1200+ for track duty. Slightly different forced induction setups but same long block

Maybe complete silence is relative, it's just pretty damn quiet. You can actually hear the road, if that makes any sense.

I'm already planning to make the Merc into a rock crawler. Once we get the Model 3 the Merc is going to be retired.

Yeah idk why dodge stopped at that number or why when they made the demon they only gave it another 100hp.
Granted you don’t really need anymore then like 500 on the streets but still a 1000hp street legal production car would be cool

Eh. I'd rather do that to the 5-Lug. That Merc is going to be a rock crawler either way, I don't care how or when it's going to happen but it's going to happen. Maybe not now, not in a year, not in five years, but one day.

I have to get better at welding first. Haha.

I sorta get what you mean, at speed I don't think they're all that different. But around town it's pretty quiet. I first saw the original Tesla roadster around where I lived in Western washington over 10 years ago. I lived on a very affluent island, the roadster was at our local library. It was loud due to lots of cooling fans haha. I've now driven p75, p100, Prius, leaf, and ridden in a volt. It's a neat effect for a couple mins, but it's kinda like a parlor trick, then it feels boring and souless again.

BTW fun fact I learned from living on Mercer Island, Paul Allen drives an early 90s grey Mazda B2200 pickup to avoid being noticed. I ended up on his compound once a long time ago, the guard let us in as we were in a borrowed Posche 911 Targa, I guess we looked fancy enough. We turned around anyway, we were just exploring the island

Pretty large, you can see most if it from lake Washington, even more when his helicopter barge/boat thing isn't in the way. He has about neighborhood worth of houses for guests and events.
