And why would I have an aneurism? I can’t control what the OP does and have even suggested he return it and quietly move on.

I must’ve missed that part. I skipped over your walls of text after the first couple sentences.

    Lots of fun stuff
FYI to move on and hopefully end this thread... I don't plan to return it. I plan to try and sell it at a depreciated value once I'm allowed on this sight.

Thank you for all the opinions. It was a trip but very insightful. If anyone's in NJ, reach out... I'd love to learn about places to go and do taco stuff locally.

Spite whoever you want. At the end of the day your choices reflect on you and not the ones you are trying to spite. You made choices and buyers remorse has set in and you now don’t find you need a RTT as bad as you could use the $1700. My opinion on the right and wrong of this has no bearing as REI will allow you to return it. So make your choice because at the end of the day your choices in life affect you and you alone.

Make sure you post it on Craigslist too. That’s where I ended up selling mine. List it for $1800 and go from there

OP, I would return it to REI. You are well within REI return policy and I don't think they care what the true return reason is. They should change the policy if it's effecting their bottom dollar. They will resell that as an open box item and still make a profit. Let's be realistic, you will not get close to 100% of your money back selling here or CL for something a buyer can get new with warranty. $1700 is alot of money and who cares what others think.

The intent wasn't to rent and return, the OP bought it and there's remorse because it doesn't meet his needs. That sounds like disatisfaction.

I read it as the cost being only part of the factor. He says hes come to recognize they won't use it, doesnt have the space to store it and wants mobility. I count that as not being 100% satisfied. He's come to recognize it doesn't meet his needs, however nice admits it is.

I don't understand rtt's. I mean come on, there's no lions around here plus I'm approaching middle aged and am not climbing a ladder at 2:00 am to drop a deuce. I like my pickup empty so I can haul shit and like you, when I camp I don't want to be anywhere near a campground. I already live in the mountains so when I want to get away, I backpack or will eventually moto pack. I'd resell it online and invest in backpacking gear. I've even been thinking of a pedal assist mtn bike with a rack to get into new spots.

Of course....if there is a genuine issue with the item. I don't freeload an item and return it. That's a dick move. You sound like those people who return Christmas trees to Costco after the holidays.

If you're within your return time ability, return it. Freaken' how other people feel about your needs and wants.
