Yeah recharging the rifle is annoying but the BAD lever does make it easy to drop the bolt after it locks back so you can break the action.

I run a BAD on my main rifle. Never installed on my other one just because I rarely shot it.

I like the JT/Houge kit because it doesn't change the operation of arms to much. Adds a few steps but nothing drastically different.

 

I would say the Cross Armory is a drastic departure from the operation of arms of an AR.
It fully separates the upper and lower at the rear pin.
This makes it so you have to control both halves.
Auto ejects the mag (which I may not want to if im doing a tactical reload and I still have rounds in the current mag)

 

I actually found my original fixed mag lock parts from 15 years ago when people started importing and selling stripped lowers.
Pre bullet button.

I think it was the original Prince 50 mag lock but don't remember.

 

That makes breaking the action easy but I don't like the idea of a new, permanent hole in the lower. "If" this bullshit is struck down (unlikely but hopeful) I don't want to figure out how to plug that hole.

Yeah, reloading on a closed bolt blows!! It sure is good that all future shootouts will be slowed down by all these new regulations

 

I don't think the hole is a big deal to be honest. If you don't have the spring, pin, and set screw in its just a hole that doesn't interfere with the use of the firearm.
Worse comes to worse a set screw that doesn't have the hole in the center for the pin could be screwed in and you would never know the hole was there when looking at it from the outside.

I mean there are so many lowers out there that have been "lightened" where significant portions of the mag well have been removed.

In short the hole is really insignificant to the operation and reliability of the lower.
