He use to do high tension work, now that his kids are older he works for a local power company through the union he belongs to. Still 13,600 volts though

 

It's a sales position. If I'm not working I'm but selling. I take a long weekend here and there so isit not too bad. Every year I say that I'm going to take three day weekends for the last two months a year. I never do...

Who do you typically work for? Have you worked any of the larger projects around recently (RIRP, MVRP, MPRP, SEMA, GBRP, etc...?) Curious if you've been on any of my jobs.

 

Understandable but as someone who used to work 80-100hrs a week and now due no more than 45 except extraordinary circumstances if you can take time off do it. Just my 0.02¢

SHIET! You might have been working around my neck of the woods then, right after the storm. Saw a ton of their trucks around, cleaning up after we got hit.

Yeah I just take whatever time off I want. I'm salary and it's basically just make sure my work is done. There is no set vacation or sick time which actually sucks because when I take time I feel guilty no matter if it's one week or 4 that I take off. I take the same trips off year to year and this year I actually tracked my vacation time and it's about 4 weeks I end up taking. No sick days... I told my boss when I started if I ever call out sick it's a lie because if I'm actually sick and can't go play I might as well be at my desk working.

 

How much you pay??

 

The set with charger/ 1 - 4.0ah battery was on sale for $277. Not the most powerful, but like 2-3x more tq than my Craftsman

 

I don't take much for time off more because I feel guilty about it than anything. We're so short-staffed all the time that taking time off really screws everybody else, so unless I'm actually sick (which almost never happens anyway) I don't call out. And even when I am actually sick it's usually just something minor like a head cold, so I show up anyway. I've only had 1 instance of being too sick to work since I've been here, and it was something like 3 years ago. I get 5 sick days but they work basically the same as our vacation time, with the exception of not getting written up for using one without 2 weeks notice in advance.

 

If someone is showing up for work sick and is contagious, I'm telling them to go home or at least get away from me. With the ability to work from home, I have no problem taking a day to prevent the rest of my colleagues from getting sick

 

We don't have that ability, unfortunately. We mostly work in our cubicles, though, so physical contact for germ transmission is pretty minimal. The only ones who really catch everything are the people with unhealthy habits.

 

Even so it's pretty easy to spread the flu or even a cold.

 

As I understand it, when you are actually contagious with a virus you don't show any symptoms. That's the diabolical part of the flu and a cold. The symptoms are part of what your body does to fight the virus and by the time you are actually sick your body has shut it down and you are no longer contagious. That's what I have been told anyway.

 

5 Vacation weeks,a week of personal days and 10 sick days is what I get.
Personal days I have to burn up by the end of year, vacations, I can roll them to the 1st full week of May.

I'm maxed out, but I've been here forever.
