Afternoon y'all!

Been busy today, bust yesterday on the way home I ran into @Bruce988jl on RT. 2. Jumped on the CB and chatted for a while.

So now I know my CB works! The built in SWR said I was close to 1:1, but it's not easy to read.

Jason I made it to to top of the hill right before exit 59 before I lost you. Where did you get off?

Mine reads that I can carry two weeks over per year, but I cannot have more than 7 weeks available at any given time. I usually start each year with 7 weeks and try to use 5.

Sick time, though, accrues without limit. I have 13 weeks or so of that.

 

I get 168 hours of vacation time, 56 hours of paid sick time, and I think 40 unpaid hours every year. Nothing carries over to the next year. Unused sick time gets paid out, and they force us to use vacation time, so they won't have to pay that out.

 

Currently I get 15 days of PTO a year, with 5 or 6 "personal choice holidays" which are just days they don't have to pay out if you leave. They technically accrue at like 1.25 per month, so when I leave at the end of July I'll have almost 8 PTO days paid out in my last paycheck. I'll have taken all my PCHs, but no PTO days.

That's interesting...public around here pays significantly higher than private. If my wife started teaching the same time I started my engineering job, she'd be making more than me right now.

I only have one bucket of time as PTO, sick and vacation was combined into one. We used to have separate entities. It's rare for me to take time off. I've been burning out pretty bad recently, so after some OT tomorrow, I've got all week off next week as vacation. I've got a lot to catch up on, so I'm hoping knocking off a pile of things will help me de-stress a bit.

On the PTO topic, not that long ago I declined a job offer due to only having 10 days 'PTO' each year. Sick, personal, vacation, whatever was included in those 10 days. The job I started a bit over a month ago I negotiated 4 weeks vacation. Sick/personal is a don't abuse policy with the first 26 weeks of sick considered short term disability paid at 100%.

 

Morning, working from home today. My fever turned into a stomach bug yesterday that wouldn't let any liquid or food stay inside me for more than 20 minutes.

That was a fun day . Don't want to spread anything around the office so figured I'd just work from home.

 

Anyone know someone with a 2nd gen Dakota (short bed) looking for a cap? I have a Leer that I'm trying to get rid of.

Morning all. Finally Friday.

GF backslid yesterday with the same symptoms, face and butt vomit. Ended up at the ER after work and didn't get home until past midnight. They finally diagnosed her as just having a GI virus (test results for everything else came back negative, fortunately) but because she was so dehydrated after dealing with this all week they gave her two bags of saline and some high-powered anti nausea and anti diarrhea drugs to help her retain some fluids.

But today's going to be a long day. Coffeeeee......

That sucks. Hope she gets and feels better ASAP.

 

Damn that sucks, hope she feels better. Today seems to be starting better for me, able to hold down a banana and some gatorade so far.

Damn, that sucks. I didn't even know anti nausea drugs were a thing. Sounds like they'd pair well with a 12 beer chaser
