Supercharger is usually minimal of 100hp on modest boost

When they do eventually develop a SC for the 3rd Gen I'm betting the price tag will be in the 5 figure range. I think I'd rather go with the Flintstone mod suggested earlier.

Yeah superchargers are expensive. But if you want more torque/hp thats the only real way to get it beside race gas or E85.

Yeah stock tacomas will do that.. toyota sure did mess this truck up. Ovtune has a tune that fixes that among MANYY other issues and increased hp/torque

This also doubles as backup for the drum brakes.

Why not regear? The 3.5 actually has plenty of power... it's just the gearing doesn't allow you to harness it. Perhaps a lower rear end will help.

I drive an MT. It's a friggin beast hooked up to a trailer.

Yeah, a M/T will allow you to be in more control of the HP available. I love the M/T!

    the tune is $700 right?

I have seen MBRP exhausts go for as low at $180

I have seen CAI go for as low as $119.

I just towed my trailer over the Appalachians this past weekend and never really felt like the truck needed more power. A 10%, 2 8%, and 2 7% grades included. What I did notice is the truck powers through 3rd into 4th, then falls back to 3rd, causing an annoying cycle of gear shifts (hat tip to the manny drivers), but the biggest issue by far was the dead peddle of the drive by wire setup. I'm guessing the OVTune would help if not fix both of these issues. This truck will run at 4600 RPM for a long time though climbing hills lol. If I made this drive frequently I would probably have gotten the stick, or more likely a fullsizer.
For what it is it seems to do as well as can be expected imo.

Get a smaller trailer, some of you are pulling some big trailers. I have a TT that weighs only 4400 lbs "wet" and I live in Big Bear CA and pull it up here at 65 mph if I want to. And I still have pedal, in 4th gear.

I pulled a 21-foot center console boat that weighed 4600lb with my 156hp '93 4Runner. You have enough HP and torque. Put that SOB in third, manual shift to 4th, deal with it. Why nobody suggest a custom grind cam? Will need a tune, but cheaper than a S/C, more HP than just a tune. Or, order you a P1SC Procharger and get with a speed shop to plumb and belt it on for you. Do it the first time and sell the system you end up with. You'll be the first, and the world will beat a path to your door. Then your cost of extra HP will be $0 and you will have a positive cash flow. Can't believe anyone hasn't seen the opportunity for profit in this already. There is enough room in front of the radiator to put an intercooler of sufficient size to more than deal with IATs even the SW deserts would throw at you in the deep summer. Remember though...the candle that burns the brightest also burns the shortest.

Can confirm. I drive a Sport and, given that I have both Nissan AND Honda stickers on it (add GT-R and VTEC power, respectively), I figure I must have at least 500 hp by now.
