    Coming from a 3rd gen owner :p

It will be interesting to see how limited the rear axle articulation will be with the watts-linkage rear axle.

I personally like the styling of the Tacoma more. I’m obviously biased though. I just love the look of my TRD Sport.

I’m personally just a Toyota and Honda guy. I love the reliability and majority of the stylings they offer. (Some cars are ugly AF though)

^Yep, the Ridgeline is ugly AF. :p

Interestingly, there's no tow hitch on the prototype, but there is a drawbar with two tie-down points (which don't look beefy enough as recovery points). Also note the fixed rear window with defroster.

3rd gen looks like a pile of garbage in pictures. Should be interesting how the Ranger compares in real life

looks like simple lines for aftermarket armour to mimic. Easy to imagine either a full plate or lo pro w/winch on there and it already has decent approach clearance. Grills are cosmetic and easily swapped though I have to admit a preference to the simple small blue ford emblem over large "lookatme" lettering.

Before I became a Taco owner I was a Ranger guy... I would have quickly told you how much better that truck is than ours... Then I got Hank.

I like the new to us Ranger and I'm glad Ford is bringing it back... But I'm too much into Tacos to want one.

Plus I still think this was the best Ranger generation.

somebody in my parents' neighborhood had a ranger parked outside. Looks like it was sold in Mexico.

It had that foreign Truck look or "hilux fighter" appearance that I don't really like--with the truck bed seemingly being too high and the front-end being too short looking.

With more info coming out about the new Ford Ranger, I'm wondering how big of a hit Toyota will take. I'd be mostly interested in the solid details of the Ranger Raptor though. Personally, I'll never buy another GM or Chrysler product due to personal experiences and work experiences from all my years working on vehicles. I'm basically a Toyota/Honda fanboy. BUT, if this new Ranger is good enough, I'd consider trading my 2017 Tacoma. A turbocharged engine and 10 speed transmission sounds delicious. I've driven some new F150s and they shift so nice and fast, its amazing. If the Ranger Raptor delivers, it could be good.

The 3rd gen Tacoma is such a backwards operating truck. Driving around town the thing wants to live in 5th gear. Driving on the highway it wants to live in 4th gear. The SSP and OVT both help a lot, but the only true fix for this backwards operation is more power and better gearing. Looks as though the Ranger could just do that. Guess we'll have to see, but its kind of exciting to think about. Imagine if they do the 2.7L Ecoboost in the Raptor!

i love the new competition. no one company can sit and rest on their reputation.

my 2006, i love; but the new rigs have me wondering. i've heard toyota is exploring diesel in the two trucks.

Seems like it'll be a nice truck. Especially with the eco boost engine. Might make Toyota rethink a few things. I just can't get over how the rangers front end looks like a ford taurus
