I do something like that when I make a reservation or call in a takeout order. "Noel" always gets turned into "Joel" or "Joe" or "Noelle" so I just use my middle name instead. "Duncan" is a lot harder to screw up.

Haha glad I'm not solo on that. Between construction and the motorcycle I can't hear. In restaurants that are loud I always go by Holden instead of Max. Too many Matts and Mike's.

I'm looking for that app - is is APRSandroid or APRSdroid? I don't see the first one, but if I'm going to spend 4.95 on an app I want to make sure it's a useful one.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.aprsdroid.app

And I'm ordering to test this. Should work no problem, but hang tight if you want to save money and wait for my review that I'll post. I really need to make a designated APRS page. Maybe I'll write it tonight at camp

    https://store.mobilinkd.com/products/mobilinkd-tnc2-2

That's the piece you add if you want APRS through radio without cell signal. So basically anywhere. The AP on cell works perfectly for me now though

Haha welcome to the pain.....everyone is a Mike...I have 4 in my friend group and 3 at my office. In my friend group I think I'm the only one that gets called by Mike instead of my last name & the office it's Mike 1, Mike 2, & Mike 3 by order of arrival (I'm the youngest and get Mike 1:D

Definitely would be interested in learning more about it. It seems like APRS would be a really helpful to have on trips. So are you saying that you can still get APRS info to your phone without a ham or is this info on how to see the APRS data from your ham on your cell screen?

Anything HAM radio related will always be free to recieve. So in this case you can view the maps and information with no problem. But you do need to get a license to participate in transmitting information.

You can view the info on that app or also the website APRS.fi

^good one to check out for anyone who is interested

It's rough, I just realized 4 minutes ago it's 9:31am and not pm..... A bit tired. I'm sure there's spelling and grammar issues. But I'll tweek it as the day goes on.

I'm no expert, but I have been doing a lot of research. Figured I'd share what I've learned. Being that I frequently travel to the middle of no where with just the lady and I, this APRS is a good safety net.

So the heat has ruined camping plans for us this weekend. I may just have to take a ride to skytop trail at mohonk moutain house in New Paltz, NY.

    Not my pic:
