Fully agree, my GF on the other hand was freaking out. Doesn't like bridges then diving into a tunnel in the middle of the bridge nearly sent her off the deep end :rofl:So glad I don't get that way

Am I the only one who doesn't really care for the beach:anonymous:? Unless I'm fishing or surfing it's pretty meh. It's hot, Sandy, the water leaves you feeling nasty and itchy...overall not that enjoyable IMO. Much rather be in the woods doing anything other than going to the beach.

Same. Most of the time I'm running music/ podcasts from my phone through the stock aux port. However a backup can would be nice and it would also be nice to reduce the amount of cords running around the cab

I did have my phone hooked up via Bluetooth, but have a limited data plan and it was going over every month till I disconnected it.

I loved the beach growing up. We have a house in Dennis about a 3 minute walk to the beach. I still like going down there but the beach has lost its appeal to me. I'll be down there for a week in July but will probably only go to the beach 2 days or so. There are tons of cool places to go kayaking down there so that's where my wife and I will be spending most of our time I'm thinking.

I also grew up with an inground pool at home and that is something I could get behind nowadays. If only they didn't cost $20k+ to put in.

    Define 'beach'

There's a few freshwater beaches here in Maine that are freaking sweet. There's trees for shade, fresh clear water so no salty itchiness, nice sandy beach, and a lot of them are deserted half the time. When I lived in Farmington I used to spend whole weekends during the summer just hanging out at one of the beaches on the Sandy River.

It was nuts, I thought it was so cool!

I can do it a few days a year. I don't have a desire to spend a whole week going to the beach for vacation. I like hanging out in "beach towns" cause the seafood is good and vibe is relaxed typically, but sitting on the beach all day isn't my idea of fun. I like mountains and lakes better.

I've driven down that way a whole lot and I always go way inland. 84 to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre then 81 South all the way to 64 into Richmond. I've done it all the other ways and no matter what it's a shit show getting through NYC, Philly and DC. Yes it's more miles but no matter what time you leave New England it will not end up being more time.

I'm hoping that by the time I head out, and hit the "tricky" spots what would usually have traffic problems, there won't be any issue and it'll be smooth sailing the way down.

Not too worried about NYC and the GW bridge to be honest... what I am worried about the most is Philly and DC. According to Google Maps I'll pass by Philly, but not through DC, so I think I'll be OK.

Oh you guys are making me jealous. I haven't been to the beach in a couple years. Would love to be right next to Dennis! Let me know if they have any pro volleyball tourny's - fun to watch. Maine is beautiful too! Haven't been there since 2013 sledding. Miss it so! I like it really hot though, I feel like it doesn't get really, really hot.
Noel, hows the cell phone service up there? After 12 years in my house in MA now my cell phone(Verizon) won't work in my house for 3 months now. What is going on? Other cell service in the house (AT&T) is now not working either - what gives?

OG iPhone unlimited data plan ftw. My wife and I both still have OG iPhone unlimited data plans with I think 750 minutes+ rollover /month. Never giving up that plan. Long ago got rid of silly apple products but the plan lives on.

I mean ocean. I love the freshwater beach at the lake we live on. We're there with the giblets swimming just about every night in the summer. Freshwater >>>>>>salt.

Depends on where you are. In the built-up areas it's pretty good, but as soon as you get out of the well-populated areas it's still sporadic. Most of the places that I camp in the Western or Northern parts of the state have zero reception (which is fine with me) unless you're on top of a mountain with line-of-sight to a tower.

Aha. I still hit the beach a few times a summer, but I don't go to the ones that are easy to get to. Usually I go to this one

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/M...23bb62bb456420!8m2!3d43.7406776!4d-69.8284069

because it's usually almost deserted. Even though it's literally within spitting distance of Popham it's a pretty decent walk to get there, so there's typically only a few other people there, for a LOT of sand acreage.

    Edit-

    Here's the route:

ME and my wife have fights over this every summer. She is a beach person and I am more of a boat person. I don't mind the salt water but hate the hot sand. She doesn't understand. Nothing beats the feeling of that nice freshwater shower after a day out on the boat though.

Last time I was on the GW there was a car facing backwards in the fast lane! :facepalm:freaked me right out. Prob happens every day....

You are just going to have to hike to the top of that mountain then. I used to play Yes' "Roundabout" when sledding. Loved the line, "In and around the lake, mountains come out of the sky and they stand there". It got me pumped.:curls:

Go to 95, and once you get on it, stay on it until you get off in NC. Do not go off on all the little roads then go back to 95, it will only add tons of time unless there is a huge accident or something. I lived in Raleigh for 6 years and drove to western MA and back at least 5 times a year. Going through PA is a waste of time and adds a couple of hours. The place you need to look out for with traffic is south of DC in VA. There is a stretch there where you can get stuck for a very long time if you go anywhere near rush hour in the morning or afternoon. It usually would save me an hour or two of traffic if I paid the toll and jumped into the HOV lane when it is busy. I'm headed down there for a wedding in a month or so and will be cruising down 95 overnight. You can make some really good time while staying around 70-75 if you can stay awake. Splitting it between a few drivers makes that easy though, but I used to do it 11-12 hours in one shot with two stops.
