Amen. My 3/16 skids require a sledgehammer massage quite often.

You don't even wheel your truck though? Do you lay up under it and put the dents in your skid with a sledge?

    But heavy for daily driver.
And i'm fine with easy trails.
Thought about maybe the 1/4 aluminum. Or, BudBuilt has 1/8 also.

I've got Pelfreybilt 1/4" aluminum on my Tacoma. They have been hammered on several times. Just a few scuff marks so far. No bends yet. Less than 1/2 the weight of comparable steel. If I had to do it all over, I'd do the same thing. I like light weight for the daily driver aspect, as well as the old racer in me says light weight means more performance from same amount of power.

I cracked a rock with my skid at RRG last weekend. Can't even tell on the SOS 3/8" skid.
Then, in another spot, really smacked it good when @Breezy was in the truck. Again, no visible or felt damage running my hand on the skid.

@Dave41079 did you get just the front skid or full set? Give us an upskirt pic  (of your 4R) so I can see how far back the front skid covers. RCI says the aluminum front is only 20lb.

 I meant to ask about that....3/8" skid would pin the front bumper to the ground!

    ^^ LOL.

The 1/4" BAMF skid i had on tacoma was stout. Slammed it a few times. Used it like a bulldozer a few times. Just scratched the paint.
But it was also 85 lb.

    Speaking of that...

Its ok to lose some lift since you can just bash through stuff now with that skid.
