What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Tried out the wifi scanner and the OBD Fusion app. Grandson was impressed then I showed him the one for my Wife's Mini and actually found 2 issues. Engine cover paint comes tomorrow and the Double Din Faceplate Saturday.

If I had a 2nd Gen I’d give you a demo.
You can see @4x4Taco09 post above he has the same setup(albeit all white). But I use the same LED panels in my 3rd gen builds and I will tell you they are bright. With a complete replacement, you are not limited by how many LEDs can fit on a “bulb” style. And with the LEDs recessed in the new panel it helps reduce glare looking into the truck from the side.

 

Yea I know its 3:00 a.m. been playing in the shop. Ok, got the rack on , everything went great except I have a wave sticking up in weather stripping.Pinched up to tight between 2 of the mounting pads. Now I need some visual as how to have the front cross bar for the light bar. Whats a good middle of the road 40" light bar? Don't want to go crazy on something I probably won't be using much. Thanks

 

No, it was intended as a joke, I should have labeled it as such.

 

Changed out my cabin filter. Whoever put it in last used the wrong sized filter and also installed it upside down. The dealer was supposed to have changed it the last time I was there. Pretty sure that didn't happen.

 

Damn sealerships. Glad it wasn't a more crucial point in your truck.

 

I took a small piece of black pipe nipple (LOWES) 1/2" I think. Ran 3/4 drill bit inside and sharpened the end down to an edge and that was my punch for weather stripping mount thru holes. Works good , hit hard enough to cut thru rubber and mark back with cut marks, then take some side cutters and cut the meat strip running in the bottom.

did the basket cut down or increase the wind noise?

Dammit I tried and lost.
Yay I guess,,, starting to stress about the swap already.

 

Wind noise is pretty much gone now. I came from aero-bars before, but needed longer (78"), so had to go with square bar. The nose was pretty bad until last night after adding the basket. I was prepared to wrap paracord around the front bar, but don't plan on it now.

 

cool thanks. i have superstrut bars, and even with paracord the wind noise was still bad. I think cuz it's not a solid bar (slotted on top, open on the bottom). I ended up putting rack pads up there and that worked, but might go basket in the future.

 

what bars are those that attach to the cab roof?

they mount to the factory holes. the cross bars are ~32" apart using the foremost and rearmost mounting slot. all in all, solid rack system for ~$200.

Your howling is probably mostly caused by the slots in the bars. If the bottom is open, that'll whistle like a hooker practicing her o-face...

ya thats what i figured. well, not exactly the way you put it... but ya.

 

I recently picked up these bars off of CL for $150 (including the feet).
I believe you can still get the bars only for $100 brand new, but that's for the 78", if you wanted shorter, I'm sure they'd be less.
