$40k isn’t very expensive any more in the grand scheme of things. You can’t get a decently equipped unlimited Rubicon for less than $50k! 200 series are mid $80k new and lots of guys buy and drop $20k in mods immediately. It sounds like for a lot of people the third gen is their first car in this price point and they think everything should be perfect without needing them get anything sorted at the dealer. Every car has flaws but all of the ones I see here are easily and cheaply solvable most of the time under warranty.

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I have a confession to make- I missed the squeek and crunching noise my 1st Gen made, but I got it back after I put in a single leaf Deaver and drove over 50 miles on dusty Death Valley dirt roads a couple months ago, but I’m not going to ask Toyota service to fix it because I voided the warranty with my mod on that part anyway. :) OP- you probably can get it taken care of easily and you mention the TSB.

Also once you claim the Lemon law the dealership will nearly drop you, and the truck. It then becomes a legal dispute with Toyota, and the dealerships will refuse to have any part in that.

Both dealerships that I have worked for are exactly that way lol. Once the customer start talking lemon law they will not discuss any further action without a legal representative present. It becomes a big fiasco.

I love how people come on here to bash the tacoma..
My coworker has a 55,000 dollar tahoe.
So far she has had to replace: The steering column, complete AC system, blower motor, and magnetic shocks. All within 43000 miles. To me that is ridiculous, but if you want to "Trade up" to a gm go right ahead LOL

Evan I love that lithium grease (on the gas tank cover every 6 months. Terrible, Terrible design). Anyone get that whistle near the top of the windows when its windy and you are going 80mph?
My buddy bought a brand new Chevy Cruz and the passenger seat squeeked. Ugh. Another reason to love your Toyota. Have you hugged your Tacoma today?

I Had a creek like this on my 2nd gen passenger door area. Turns out they missed some spot welds. Toyota repaired it under warranty.

Was either that or a f150. I choose the one I knew wouldn't break down on me.

Drove by the dealership to grab my garage door opener from my truck and they had the front bumper and the grill in the bed of the truck. I'm guessing its an issue with the sensors on the grill. I should have asked them to use my truck as a experimental workaround to install a TRD Pro grill.
