Does anyone else have a lump on their steering wheel at the leather seam on the upper right side of the wheel? It's not easy to see, but you definitely feel it. There isn't a lump on the upper left seam on the wheel.

    Thanks!

It's more like something got bunched up under the seam where the top leather piece meets the piece on the right side of the wheel. I have a few loose spots on the back of the wheel, but they don't bother me and aren't nearly as bad as what that guy posted.

This lump wouldn't bother me if it wasn't right where I put my hand most of the time.

Without a picture, it could be anything. I wouldn’t rule out a benign cyst at this point.

I have the same lump... maybe it's contagious!?!?

Seriously though I've noticed the same lump in the same location. It's slight and is about as far from the category from "things I'm even thinking much less worried about" as it could be though.

if that's the only problem you have with your truck, congratulations. You have a unicorn!!! :)

Been told that the leather on the wheel is made from bull dick and if you rub it too much it may end up like that...

Yep. I noticed this on a couple of the trucks I test drove and the one I ordered had a seam that was a bit elevated compared to the other side. My 4Runner is the same way. I just don’t think the assembly is super precise. As another responder already said, of all the issues we could have, I count this one as minimal, even though I notice it. The guy with the loose/sloppy leather had it far worse.

You need to make sure it's not HPV... J/p The lump is common it's basically toomuch material and they tuck it under and sew. I dealt with corporate about this. Unfortuantely the leather quality is not up to par on the trucks for some reason. My seats aren't bad but man my old steering wheel and even my brand new one they replaced is not a consistent cleanly made leather steering wheel. There will never be a recall for these unfortuantely because they don't hinder any safety issue. Blah blah blah yaddah yaddah yaddah it is what it is unfortunately.

So your new steering wheel has the same lump as your first one? The dealer said it's common, but I never trust taking their word for it.

I also asked the dealer to take care of the alignment issue I've had since day one: The steering wheel is turned about 5-8 degrees to the right when the truck is driving straight. This is consistent on any road. They measured the alignment, agreed it's off and said they aren't fixing it because it's technically within spec. I've never had a dealer work so f'ing hard to avoid such a minor fix. Measuring the alignment is the majority of the work. Just finish the damn job!
