Another question - do the parking brakes on people's Tacomas here really hold the truck stationary in low gear at 1300RPM? Mine is touch and go - sometimes holds, sometimes creeps just a little at slower than walking pace. I've heard people say this is normal for trucks. Will a slow creep get me the big "R"?

I know, I know, but I needed a half ton.
I’ll start off by saying I didn’t read all 16 pages of this thread... I got my truck inspected in January.. went to my normal garage and had no issues. That being said I have a 3” OME lift and am currently running 255/80/17 St Maxx tires. This is my second set of rims... so no tpms sensors installed.. guy didn’t say a word about the tire light being on. The exhaust has also developed a small, but noticeable leak. He didn’t say anything about that either. Over all seemed to be a normal experience. Hope this helps some of you guys!

Edit: Also I’m not convinced they took pictures either.. was in a fairly tight garage bay for the inspection so pictures would have been tough. Did my car after as well and had no issues getting a sticker. We’ll see what next year brings.

My dealer does front and rear pictures with the plate visible and the inspector can even take a couple more if they want or find something wrong. I feel like they recently started doing pictures though maybe they didnt have eveeything pushed out to all Inspection stations yet

Went in to my guy yesterday and left my wheeling exhaust set up on. Didnt give me the R but he said that the tailpipe must stick out near the rear tires and i gotta put my old assembly on and come back. Mines just 3 feet of pipe from the Y pipe to a downturn coming out under the passenger doors, not to mention its loud as fuck. Never notice how loud it is till someone else drives it. Now for the E brake "crapshoot" he just stomped on the E brake and felt some resistance and said "is good, i check suspension now and you come back another day with fixed exhaust, I pass!" So i ordered exhaust hanger pliers of Amazon for 15 bucks and im gonna toss the muffler on tomorrow night and go in friday or something. My guy isnt a stickler on "performance sound" and the aeroturbine sounds stock till like 3500rpms. I just prefer to be an loud obnoxious danged kid while i still can be.

Here's a tip on the E-brake for anybody who may be worried what they have is not enough. Assuming everything else is working OK, you may want to clean and lube the spring/lever assembly in the middle of the truck that keeps the cable running into the cab taut. I cleaned/lubed the spring to keep the brake light on the dash from staying on, and to my surprise that also added around 200 RPM to how high I can rev it before it slips. I'm not really worried about the E-brake test now - I have plenty of other things to worry about :)

Got my sticker today. Slapped me on the wrist for my front window tint being 30% and didnt even notice the truck was louder than stock. Half deaf inspector in a dim lit garage, what could go wrong

Haven't had my evo pass emissions for 4 years - not a single f*ck was given when I told the guy who is the MAC supervisor to piss off when he told me to bring my fully modded car into the dealer and returned to stock spec.

The Truck is going to have a hard time but at this rate if they fail it I'm just registering it in another state. I give up on this trunk-stuck-up-their-ass sad excuse of a state.

So, I think that a lot the concern over this was pretty unfounded. I just got my sticker this morning without any issues. I'm running 265/75-16 tires on SCS Ray10 wheels and they poke outside of the fenders noticeably but not extremely. I'm also running a OME lift with 887 coils and Dakar leaf pack. The station manager where I go is the only one who does inspections and he's never said a thing about any of my mods.

Got mine inspected yesterday. --- I'm officially a Masshole now.... --- The only thing the guy questioned was that I only have one license plate light since I moved the trailer plug to the hole of the one on the left side. I just said I got the truck that way and he passed me. No other reason for him to fail me, since Im stock on 265/70r17s. They didnt care about my CaliRaised fogs either.
