    Hello everyone.

    Happy Friday.

For anyone interested, the movie Soldado is really good and worth owning. Written by Taylor Sheridan, Soldado is the English (mostly) language movie debut for Italian director Stefano Sollinas, whose previous films include Suburra and ACAB - All Cops Are Bastards, both of which are great. Soldado is not a direct sequel to Sicario, but is best described as a standalone anthology in the Sicario series, which is important to keep in mind when watching and comparing Soldado to Sicario. As a standalone, Soldado is impressive, with excellent performances by Josh Brolin, Benicio del Torro, and Isabela Moner, particularly those of Brolin and del Torro. The story and action sequences are great as well.

That said, Soldado falls a bit short of the standard set by its Denis Villeneuve-directed predecessor, Sicario. The story of Soldado is solid, but the execution feels... Lacking. Scattershot in some ways. There is a lot going on, but with a few exceptions, most of story's components, sequences, and events feel underdeveloped. Sicario was the opposite, I feel, with "less" components but a much more developed, richer, and tightly interwoven story and execution. It's the aforementioned strong performances of Brolin and del Toro, along with writer Taylor Sheridan's story, that serves as the backbone of Soldado and disguises the weaknesses.

Nonetheless, do not let that dissuade anyone from watching and enjoying Soldado. Solado is a great movie, as both a sequel to Sicario as I defined above, and in it's own right. I will be adding Soldado to my personal film library and will likely watch it a dozen times over the course of a month to extract as much as I can out of it. It's what I do, to the great amusement and annoyance of my family.

Reportedly, Taylor Sheridan is already writing the script for the third installation of the series, and while I'm excited about it, I hope he doesn't rush it through to capitalize on the commercial success of Sicario and, predictably, Soldado. He's a hell of a screenwriter; I haven't seen a movie of his that I don't thoroughly enjoy and find thought-provoking, particularly Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River.

For those of you who have not seen Sicario, unfuck yourself and watch it.

Thank you brother! Good watching out!

Discount Tire is offering rebates from now till the 4th. Today the 29th and tomorrow the 30th, in-store and online purchases are rebate eligible. After tomorrow, the rebates are exclusive to online orders, and not in-store.

IIRC, they're offering a $100 rebate on BFG.

I found a coupon code for 10% a diamondback bed cover and it only knocked off like $150. But I did find out they military/veteran discounts that are 15% off. Still too expensive right now.

Have a couple test subject coming down my way and will let everybody check it out.

The larger ones are a bit pricier, so I think those will be a pre-order.

But, we are working towards making the 12"x14" flags become a reality.
