Ordered the Subi tweeters and the front/rear Kicker speakers from Crutchfield. I haven't watched the video yet since I'm at work but will I need to do any splicing for the front/rear speakers or do the wiring harnesses that Crutchefield provides take care of that? Hoping they come in before the weekend so I have something to do :)

I did my rear sound deadening and speakers last night. Crutchfield provided everything you need.

Modify the brackets per the first post, and line up the holes.

The matting took about an hour, but I had to learn how to do it. Speakers took two minutes.

Is the sound deadening worth the extra time and money?

    Many people say it is.

Mine is still in progress, so it’s hard to comment.

I feel like the biggest benefit of the sound deadening would be reducing road noise, I plan to install the new speakers/tweeter and when I have some extra time I'll pull the panels off again and add the Noico/Dynamat.

Glad I won't be doing any splicing, appreciate the info!

    Yeah.
I didn't do any, and I find that the A/C blasting in this blasted heat is way louder than any road noise!

Thinking about adding the kicker hideaway sub. Anyone got any reviews on it paired with this 250$ upgrade in the op?

Just added the tweeter upgrade. Installed only drivers side at first to do a comparison. Noticeable upgrade in clarity.

Thanks. Did you also amp the doors? Or just this mod plus the sub?

Where did you put the sub?

Awesome. Thanks. Do you normally keep stuff next to it in that storage compartment? That is probably where I will put it. Did you do a toggle switch for it too?

Yeah, I keep a tool bag and raincoats back there. I wired in the volume control that comes with it.

    FYI, 2nd gen folks:

For the tweeter, Kicker 43CST20 is not plug and play, nor will it fit without a custom mount.
I ordered from *********, hopefully this fits.
    Code:
Toyota Tacoma Tweeter Mounts – Tweeter Installation adapter kit / wiring
Toyota Tweeter Installation Adapter SM-TM01 - 1.6250 inch cutout

If you aren’t worried about plug and play for the 3rd gen, you can also easily mount a tweeter in the dash, I just removed the setup in the OP and installed components. I used a pipe strap to make my own tweeter mounts.
