That is really interesting. I'd never seen concrete being used as a floor other than the basement/ground level in a house.

Edit: Oz, is there any additional precautions taken because of the weight of the concrete?

 

The weight has to be factored into the lateral restraint calculation for the shear walls , beyond that the topping actually limits deflection / vibration through composite action with the subfloor so joist spans are generally no issue

Never seen that down here,yet. For sound? Heated floor?

Yes I've used the one that came with my karcher electric PW and I love it. Used it on my deck and brothers patio. Does a great job, just gotta move along and do a few different directions. Keeps the mess down and cleans really well.

Are they staining/sealing the concrete as the finished floor or are they installing tile?

 

Gypecrete or normal mix?

 

Conventional concrete , 32mpa , 10mm aggregate with plasticiser and fibre mesh

 

Glue down wide plank engineered wood floor and rectified porcelain tile

 

What do you guys think of this? I built this for my apartment. The space was empty and we needed more counter space so I made it a cutting board. Top is from walnut, rest is made of cedar. Built from the ground up. It doesn’t look big, but it’s 40l x 20w x 36 h

Thank you. I was able to get all the walnut on sale from Home Depot. The were closing out of all their stock so it was incredibly cheap.


I forgot to say, the cutout in the left is for a trash can to go in the cabinet, or more like a scrap bin.

 

When I first read your post I thought it said you made that in your apartment. I was like hitf did you do that? Hitf did you get away with that? Was thinking that it must not be married. Then I read again. Lol!! I was impressed! Looks awesome!!
