    I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
    Do you know if your LSD is still working you have pretty high mileage on original oil right. How was your LSD last winter ?

    Original oil has 25K miles on it and haven't had any problems. Grandma street queens (like me) shouldn't need to change the diff oil until 30K according to my manual.

    As far as I know its working fine. Last winter was our worst winter. I did run with 140lbs in the bed this year because my tires (original) are getting thin and sucketh. The tacoma chugged through the snow like it always does.

    Honestly? The reason why I wanted to use the 'dealership' recommended additive - was because if I start having problems with chattering & what-not, I'll seriously take it to a dealership and complain just to be a pain in their asses. It's ridiculous that everyone is having problems with this when everyone uses what the manual says (and the manual isn't that specific).

    Just an FYI

    I sent Mobile an e-mail asking them about the difference between the regular
    $26 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90 and the 75W-90 LS.

    It's the same oil.

    I actually had a couple old bottles at home and the wording on the back of the bottle is the same with an addition of the LS.

    I havent tried that stuff, but given that the packaging advertises that its for LS diffs, I would think the addative is already in it.

    :That was the best option from auto zone, What brand are most using? Never imagined diff oil could be so complicated... well at least after tomorrow I will have it done and never look at this thread again!:D

    That is the exact stuff I used last week when I swapped out my rear diff oil. Mine also said "limited-slip" on the bottle but I already had some Redline friction modifier and just added 4oz. of that anyways just to play it safe. Havent had any issues yet but then again, I only drove it like 10 miles since. I am going camping this weekend and will be putting a couple hundred miles on it we'll see what happens.:cool:

    Ok well keep us (ok maybe just me) on how it does, I am going to switch mine tomorrow but not going to drive to far this weekend but on my trips lowes if I have issues will post up.
    Really wish I had a locked now so I would stop listening for noises from the diff. Forget how it works in the dirt,,,,

    Have you hauled some heavy loads in the bed as well? I want to run Amsoil so bad.......just don't want to dump the 40 buck worth of oil in the reclaim barrel if I don't have to. Keep us posted. This would be my choice for sure! Fill it and forget it!

    I just drained and re filled my diff with this stuff in a 75-90, so I'll let you know in a week how its working out. I also got 4 ozs. of CRC Friction modifier just in case.

    Im not adding the addative, as its listed as being "Limited Slip"....SO...Im just seeing if it works without the addative. If not, I'll throw some in.
