You did a really nice job fixing it up. It looks brand new, especially with the new decals. My rPod is the ‘Hood River Edition ‘ and is lifted a couple of inches. It’s probably going to block more wind too.

When I tow my small 5x8 enclosed trailer my mpg plummets fast. Doesn't matter if its loaded with my mower and gear ~1200#'s or running empty. It's just a massive flat wall catching wind. Adding my cap didn't seem to change it at all. I'd be interested to compare a v-nose 5x8 vs mine to see the difference.

Just picked up the Starcraft Satellite 17RB with Extreme Package. Towed it home with no WDH or sway control. I think it and my truck sit almost perfect, but I do see some sort of sway control in my future.

What is the consensus regarding electric break controllers? Thanks!

Awesome! Looks nice. This is the rPod 180 Clone?

I just had an Equalizer 600/6000 WDH with four-point sway control installed on my PreRunner Access Cab and rPod 180. It helps a lot to control the trailer from shifting side to side on the freeway (sometimes I felt like I was in a washing machine) and the truck and trailer no longer bounce going over bridges.

Without the WDH the Tacoma dropped one inch over the rear axle but now it sits perfectly level.

You’re from Gastonia? My in laws live in Lincolnton.

I have a Draw Tite with digital display. It will show you how much force is being applied to the brakes by how high the numbers read. It was a little over $100 plus $20 or so for the plug and play pigtail. (I had the original Tacoma pigtail in the glove compartment but the RV tech said the after market pigtail was better because the factory one ended in bare wires.)

There is two brake settings on the controller. The first is how much the trailer brakes grab and the second determines how fast they release. I had the tech adjust it and it seems to work well. The trailer brakes seem smooth and release easily.

Get them. You may be fine without trailer brakes but you'll be better with trailer brakes.

These guys should get you through your studies, videos, wiring harnesses and all. Good Company to work with too.

I ran a Prodigy 2 on my Gen 2 for 11 years without a hiccup.

Went with a RedArc this time because of space constraints. Just did a 1400 miler with excellent results.

Yesterday, for the first time, I towed my cargo trailer conversion camper with my Tacoma. I've towed it many thousands of miles with my old Tundra, but this was the first real test with the Taco. It did great! As you can see there's a little sag, but it wasn't noticeable while driving. I'll be getting a WD / sway hitch before long. Now that I know how well the Taco tow the CTC, I'm looking forward to more camping trips.

Works with all of my trailers, calibrate once and does everything automatically. Plus when I townour off-road camper I have the override right next to my hand so I don’t have to do any contortions to reach it.

Nice job with the lift! Always liked the Casita's. 12mpg is acceptable. You have a great truck and trailer combo. That setup would kickass in the Southwest going offroad through gullies. The beauty of a Casita is the opening rear window, you get airflow through the trailer, that's a big deal, plus visibility on three sides.

P3 does the same thing. I have mine mounted under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. I can reach the manual knob easily mounted in that spot and it doesn't interfere with space issues getting in and out of the vehicle. My truck also doesn't have many mounting places since it has all the options Toyota offers on the Tacoma. Ive always been dumbfounded why folks mount their controller in a place where that the manual knob isn't accessible when needed quickly.

I forgot to mention that I did install some Sumo Springs on my truck. I noticed it was sagging just enough to notice with my Casita. Love the Sumo Springs though. It does ride a bit stiffer empty, but really not that much different than before. Considered airbags but thought I would enjoy the zero maintenance of the Sumo Springs. So far, so good.
