Yep, 3 inch lift and heavy ass Duratracs lol. I'm not disappointed at all with 13-14 given the circumstances.

Ah see that makes more sense. This would explain why I see people with multiple sets of tires. Highway tires vs "fun time" tires.

How much lift and what are the specifics of your wheel and tire combo?

Also, do you drive in stop and go traffic, hills, or lots of headwind. This will also kill your fuel economy. Headwind will affect more so on the highway.

Do you carry additional weight in the truck such as passengers, tools, armor?

Another factor is maintenance. Oil change, gear oil, air filter, maf and throttle body cleaning or shot wheel bearings.

I have a 6 inch lift with 33’s on 18s! I do drive hilly areas with some strong winds.. but I try to always stay under 2 grand. I am going to clean my maf and throttle body. Might throw in wheel bearings for the hell of it.
    Fluids are all brand new!

How do you like the 4.88 gearing? I'm on the fence between that and 4.56.

How fast do y'all drive? On average of course. Cause I sit at 80mph on the highway... its socal, everyone drives 80mph everywhere.

    Ryker,
I think the strong winds combined with the six inch lift and heavy combo are what’s hindering your fuel economy even if you keep it under 2K RPM.
I would suggest regearing to 4.30 gears at the very least if you have the automatic.

Confirm the wheel bearings with an honest mechanic. It’s an expensive job.

Jesus, how do you pull that off, especially with that front bumper! I watch my rpms religiously to try to keep them around 2k and I still can't get over the 14 mpg hump :annoyed:

I don’t know man, I’m stumped too. But yea I watch that needle on the highway and typically run 65 mph. I will say my around town mpg is shit.

The biggest benefit I guess is, I don’t care what my mpg is. It’s not my daily, so it’s easier on the wallet that way.

It’s a bit tall for highway driving, love it off road. It also came in handy when I towed a 6k lb trailer across the country. My truck is supper heavy though so I’m glad I went with 4.88, plus I can go up to 36” tires now and be good. I have a MT

No kidding, I had the local high school auto shop class balance them. They did a great job but cursed the weight. There a blast resistant military bead-lock:D
