Yes they are for the passenger side, however even when connected it does not work, we assume because the ECU is not programmed for a passenger handle on the Tacoma.

This was the original way I attempted to get this mod to work, by populating those slots with the factory pins and wiring and following the Toyota wiring diagram for the Highlander which has the same smart key ECU, and otherwise same wiring, but must be programmed slightly different.

Victory did all the work on this, so he can speak to it most intelligently for the door handle. But just to add in a bit of additional info because I encountered the similar thing in 4wd ECU while working on 2Whl Lo and rear lock anytime mods.

Because the ECU are the same P/N (in both vehicles) and can be ordered as a repair part for either, the ECU must have the internal programming to work with both vehicles (I assume.)

I have become almost positive that these ECUs read the vehicle type and configuration off of the CAN network and then set their operation modes appropriately from that. So it knows it's a Tacoma and not to turn on the other handle pins. If Toyota adds passenger door handle in the future, I don't think this ECU will change, but the main body ecu programming will change to request the security ecu to turn that feature on.

For example, same 4wd ECU controls diff lock in both 2wd and 4wd Tacomas, (on 3rd gen). When installed in 4wd truck, it makes sure you are in 4Lo before engaging diff lock, and goes psycho if not hooked to transfer case, ADD, etc.

When installed in 2wd truck, it doesn't even look for these connections (per schematics, don't have a 2wd OR to test on). I tried simulating the 2wd connections, but I think the truck sets the ECU modes from the CAN connection....

I just finished installing mine. I used left over 22ga wire from my garage door opener and the only problem I had was literally the last step of putting that triangle shaped cover over the side mirror and breaking the clips. Totally forgot to pull the white clips out and put them on the piece instead if just ramming the piece on the car. Guess I'll be ordering a hundred of those for $30 when I only need 3. Damn auto parts and their shitty logistics.

Anyway, thanks Victory! Works great with the Lexus card. I also added the redline hood struts I got for $85 shipped, which are fantastic.

I'll be making a post soon (hopefully) regarding adding rain sensing wipers using OEM parts from an upgraded package from a canadian Avalon.

Hey, I made the same mistake, but if you take the door panel off again, I know it’s annoying, if you slit a whole in the plastic liner near where the power lock solenoid cables come out of the door (through that black foam piece, you can actually stick your whoel arm in there and get them back. I was just going to reorder, but wanted to put that triangle trim back ASAP, also didn’t want the clips rolling around needlessly adding noise inside the door when I drive around...

Thanks!! I took the door apart and took out the speaker and couldn't find them at the bottom. I'll take it apart again and reach my arm through that black thing. Thanks again!

I hope you do figure out how to add rain sensing wipers, I had them on a 2009 Avalon and it is the one feature from it I miss the most, even more than air conditioned seats.

Not yet, unfortunately. I just need a free weekend to change out the parts. The other lever is sized different inside the column. I read online that the controller unit on Toyotas is located in the wiper lever so it should be plug and play with the rain sensor. I'm not smart enough to read wiring diagrams so I'm going to just test it out by messing with wires.

On the dash or the window. It's like a little bubble that faces the window shooting infrared beams at it. I'm hoping I can do the window top one and not mod the dash

Shouldn't have to, I can probably just connect the intermittent wire to the rain sensing connection, but it would be nice to have the lever match the functionality. Luckily it's very close to the Tacoma but I'm not honestly sure where the controller unit is, if it's in the wiper lever or part of the overall ECU or whatever. A post I read made it seem the lever has the controller unit inside, but I can't tell.

The housing connector is currently on back order. When I went to another site, it said that part was discontinued and no longer available.
