The "GIMMICK" worked for me.After several attempts I had my KO2'S balanced on a Roadforce balancer. No more issues. All 4 were balanced for $30.00.

This is interesting. Mounted 285/75r16 ko2’s yesterday and they vibrate decently at 55+mph. The shop I went to is reputable and knows their stuff, claimed he balanced them all in at 0.0. Weird

Did they use a road force balancer?

Not sure. I haven't decided if I want to take them back to get them rebalanced, or just deal with it

I've got 10K on my 265/75 KO2's and they've been smooth since day one--even after some fairly hardcore off-road abuse.

That is great that your vibration is gone, but thousands of vibration problems are solved every day by regular well calibrated dynamic balancers. The roadforce balancer measures the same geometrical dyanmics as the rest of the machines. The drum against the tire is the gimmick. As I said, it is a good dynamic spin balancer, but it isn't some revolutionary discovery in the world of physics. The key to balancing Toyota wheels is the difficulty in mounting it correctly on the machine. I wouldn't spend extra to get my tires balanced on one.

Had balancing issues with my 275s, turned out they didn’t seat all the way on the TRD pro rims, had Them balanced several times using a standard dynamic balancer, finally gave up and got them road force balanced. Don’t waste your time doing anything other than a road force.

I put hub centric rings on today, still steering wheel shake. I guess I’ll try road force a 2nd time, this time after ~15,000 miles. Has anyone had success rebalancing tires after they’ve been broken in?

I put balance beads it definitely helped.
I still get some feedback tho.
    Sigh...

I was thinking about this thread when I was driving a lot this weekend. KO2's are seriously the smoothest tires I have owned. Not sure if Toyota does a road force balance when they install them, but whatever they did it worked! I did notice a ton of weights on my rims, though. Maybe that is the trick, too.

I've always had great luck with ko2s, have been running them on a few different trucks since the 285/70r17 size was offered. I just ordered a set in 265/75r16 for my new truck. $700 otd plus an additional $50 mail in rebate, hard to pass that up.

Well, couldn't stand the intermittent shaky steering wheel and seats anymore, so I took it into a Toyota dealership to see if they could make an attempt at balancing it before I bring it back to get a different set. Feels a lot better now....no more shaking, but I have yet to take it on a long extended highway drive. The Toyota guys do say that they get a lot of ppl asking them to try and rebalance the tires that were purchased at other tire shops. Do Toyotas have anything special about them that is required to get them properly balanced?

Do you know what hubcentric rings are for?

Yep. I was hoping the wheel not being seated evenly on the hub was causing my vibrations. The ring ensures the wheel sits perfectly centered onto the hub when using wheels that have a center bore larger than the hub itself.

Haven't read through the whole thread, but I am having the same issue. Did you ever figure it out?
