Curious why the spare rim says temporary use only as it has a matching tire to the other rims. Is that sticker just for cosmetics? Black paint actually looks kind of cool with my magnetic gray truck. I put it on there just to see what it would look like. CF67BE47-2AF3-4F71-98D3-04E08DE4C51E.jpg

Someone at toyota got a little trigger happy with stickers. That's a full size. Some guys run those wheels on all four corners and we know that the tire is normal use street tires.

Probably cause it doesn't have a TPMS which is required by law and could lead to a lawsuit if someone rotates it in or just keeps it on and gets into accident because of tire failure.

There is no TPMS device in it, thus temporary use only.

There is nothing wrong with the wheel. Or tire.

Can the Tacoma support 5 TPMS?

I would think that if the spare a had TPMS, all you’d have to do would be reset the switch?

I had a loaner today, Tpms light cane on, checked the 4 and they were all good. Having one in the spare is dumb

until you get a flat tire....only to find out your spare is flat as well.....then that 5th TPMS would have been pretty damn handy.

I'm sorry. At least it could have been a Sienna or Odyssey.

    same shit as everyone else
2005-2008 had five TPMS sensors. All tacomas off the line 09+ only have four.

I've survived so far without them. And I carry a pump, and fix a flat, and AAA. While not an ideal situation to find one's self, some of the nanny behavior isn't necessary

99% of the drivers on the road are not half as well equipped.

Sally soccer mom and joe blow are lucky if they even know how to change a tire in the first place..

    Also wondered this.

So why does the spare steelie have one elongated oval hole?

I bought a set of used Toyota steelies and all the holes are round.

    IMG_20180630_172156472_HDR.jpg

Makes me think this steelie spare rim couldn't be used full time.
