Who cares if a skid gets bent? Serious statement. Pounding dents out of skids makes as much sense to me as washing off the treads of your tires if they are dirty.

They are hell to get back on when bent.

Pounding on them helps half the time. The other half it makes it worse. Haha. Have had to expand my bolt holes twice.

True I guess. I had a specific sequence of what bolts had to go in and get tightend when I had to reinstall my all poo one.

IFS skid, LCA skids, gas tank skid, and rear lower link skids. I may eventually add the trans/xfer case skids.

    You gotta pay.

True but my thought is 1/4 inch and you dont have to worry. 3/16 or smaller I personally feel like that would be a waste of money

IMOP for a daily driver the 1/4 Aluminum is the way to go! I've been thinking about upgrading to steel now that my truck isn't a DD anymore, but I beat the hell out my skids and they are still good to go!

I don’t understand why y’all that daily the truck just leave the skids on 24/7? How long does it take to take them off, maybe 45minutes to an hour max? Get beefy skidplates and just take them off when you aren’t using them.

Those skids are now sitting on the side of the house waiting to be cut up and used as plate for a future project. I'm freeballin it now under there.

Or just drive with them on...it's no different than having a passenger with you. A couple hundred pounds will have far less impact on your mileage than running larger off road tires will. You'd be better served to leave the skids on, and just use stock sized tires until you're going off road. Or, just leave it all on and stop crying like a little bitch about 1mpg.

The "Bolt shit on/take shit off" every time you plan on going off road gets real old real fast. There are options that let you have a capable 4wd an keep within the parametersof a reasonable daily driver. Excessive weight can bea detriment just as often as it can be an asset. Long story short, loading pork onto a light weight vehicle just doesn't make practical sense to me. I've done just fine with full aluminum skids, aluminum front bumper, and sliders that aren't ridiculously heavy. I get better gas mileage than many report....great performance off road, and dont wear out the bolts on my skids. Not gonna say this is for everyone....just the sensible practical ones...

I agree. Just an option for those that are worried about the weight and thickness of skids

Ordered KM3s for the 4Runner last night. Ordered some KO2s for the wife's Subaru at the same time. That cart total stung a bit.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
It does sting. The no sales tax, free shipping, and $100 mail in rebate got my attention at discounttire.
I ordered a set of KO2s yesterday. Sort of wanted Ridge Grapplers again. Was really tempted by KM3. The KO2 were cheaper and lighter than those though.

Exactly where I ordered from. At least I get $200 back. Selling my tires for a little more also. Going to try selling the wife's tires too, as they have ~1000 miles on them.
