Sydney's back from her second CCL/TPLO surgery. She's not nearly as doped up as the first time around but still fairly out of it. Having a bit of a quiet evening; here's to another twelve weeks of recovery.

Thanks. She'll get there, it'll just take time and exercise.

I hope she is doing ok. Our male Akita had his other leg done. He tore the first one 2014 and tore the other one this year. He had surgery March 6th.

Thanks for your concern. She's doing much better than the first already. How's your Akita recovering? And at least he waited a while between the two. Sydney blew her second knee less than 36 hours after being fully released from the first repair.

Thank you for asking. The second one had complications. I think he over did it first couple of days. Not sure why his leg got infected but it set him back. It was not good. Took awhile to get the infection cleared up. He is doing much better. But he is going on 7 years old and our female is 2. His days are done with playing hard in the pen and running around.

I run into one of two problems when I take doggo camping:

Her regular leash doesn't leave room for her to sniff butts, dig ruts, or play with mutts.

Her 10-mile long lanyard gets caught on everything and somehow geometric shapes never before seen in nature are formed.

    Cue this: https://ruffwear.com/collections/new-gear/products/knot-a-hitch

I'll test it out tomorrow, you know, with an actual dog attached. I'll let everyone know if it's worth it.

I use something similar that I made with rope and a carabiner. Works well and gives the dog more room to roam. Only cost me $10-$20 total and I can hook up more than 1 dog if needed.

That's good he's warming up to her. Our dog plays with my son who's 4, and sleeps with my daughter who's 7. He is a completely different dog between the two.

One thing to think about is that he has had a lot of change. Being in a new home has likely stressed him out some and a lot of what you are experiencing could be caused by that. Same reason could be the cause of him snipping at your niece. Its great that he seems to be acting better after returning to you! You may start seeing a big change in him as he seems to becoming more comfortable with his new normal being with you and your family.
