That's a great deal. Re-doing my exhaust would be nice, except...

Yeah. I live in Nazi Germany. And you know how much the Nazis like their emissions standards.

I know they make CA CARB compliant exhaust components but it doesn't seem worth it - they still come with the same restrictive designs because they are confined by the emissions regulations.

Only the cats need to be carb. Everything else can be whatever.

How much of a noticeable different would it make if I invested in new headers, cats, and a muffler?

Other then sound not much if your N/A. It will flow better though. Maybe pick up a few hp but nothing super noticeable but it will sound good. You can even have it dump before your axel if you want

@BartMaster1234 you dont need new cats, all carb legal cats are the same so might as well stick with the oem ines till they give out. Unless you get some bolt in high flows and just swap them out when time to smog lol.
I also really wouldn’t go bigger then 2.5” exhust, are engines will never make enough power to really need a bigger size pipe, also 2.5 is cheaper and lighter then 3”

Eh. Maybe I'll hold off on the exhaust for a while. My K&N is plenty loud for me, and that's the reason why I bought it.

I don't see the point of having a loud, flashy exhaust on a slow truck like mine.

Fuck did I mention it's slow? I went to go visit a job site today and the foreman told me to follow him down I-580. He drives a PRIUS, and drove like a maniac all the way there. He was running 80-90 MPH all the way there. AND I COULDN'T KEEP UP! When I was absolute pedal-to-the-medal he already left me in the dust.

It's funny, the foreman was my old neighbor and he bought this brand new 2014 Ford F250 Super Duty back in the day. Lifted and everything. He traded it in for a freakin' 2015 Toyota Prius. That was the first time I have ever heard of anyone going from a giant, lifted, Cummins Diesel powered American pickup truck for a dinky little Prius.

Headers are nice for a few reasons, performance difference will be minimal (the stock engine doesnt need more flow) but your stock manifold cracks usually so it is a solid replacement. The long tube ones like LCE sells are minimum restriction meeting all in a large collector setup for larger than stock pipe (if you wish), they also are cut in at an angle for extra scavenging effect from low pressure cause by high pressure passing over the other pipes. Plus they are good for changing the sound a bit and they're much easier to work on with their coating. A new CARB cat may flow better than your old carb cat but not much we can do there. Larger diameter tubing (ideally before and after cat) and new muffler will change exhaust velocity and sounds, usually for the better. If you ever did go for performance with a SC or something the extra flow is great because as your volumetic efficiency increases your power does as well. Engine is a huge air pump, you remove restriction points and it functions faster. Plus you can pick and tune the sound to your desire.

Haha, but don't ever let a Cummins guy catch you say that. Ford's have PowerStokes, which are mostly designed by International. My truck does up to 90mph pretty easily on flat with my big tires, 85up a huge grade all though I could probably goose it to 90 if I really rag it out. My cruiser dont give a fuck and will run 90 all day long up anything haha

I must be mistaking it for the Dodge RAM. Speaking of Cummins, did you see the engine they shoved into a Nissan Titan? It is strange seeing one of those in a truck like that.

But seriously. At a stop he would zoom past me, even though I gave it everything I had.

I can't believe a Prius goes faster than I do.

Auto 4cyl Taco is borderline dangerous from my experience with one. Probably wouldn't be too bad if you helped it with some 4.56 or 4.88 gears though. The 5.0 diesel in the Titan is pretty nice. Good size for swaps when the exclusivity contract runs out.

God it's terrible. When I get more money I do want to turbo it. I'll figure out how I'm getting it SMOG legal later.

You could do a turbo after the cat, technically that is legal. Now all the other fueling related stuff might not be but that is easier to hid and possibly avoidable with a aftermarket ECU or staying confined to low boost.

You can see my family has never owned an American car. Parent's first car after immigrating here in the 1980's was a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder, followed by a 1994 Honda Civic, and then a 1998 Toyota Tacoma, and finally a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E320.

And then there's my dumbass with another 1998 Toyota Tacoma, and a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid.
