Mine works pretty good, most of the time. As long as the truck is in motion even at least 5-10 mph, it blows in the mid to upper 40’s.

The only time I’ve noticed it struggle is when stationary/idling extended periods when it’s 100* and humid. After about 10 minutes performance starts to suffer. The reason this happens is that the coolant temp is hotter, the radiator is hotter and condenser can’t do it’s job.

I’m planning to convert to an electric fan so that the condenser/radiator/engine get more air flow at idle. The mechanical fan does not move enough air at idle.

There is calculated allowable refrigerant leakage.

When u use the all pro, nothing is lost, captured or leaked, it simply re charges.
I did mine 3 months ago and is working stronger than new.
To all the purest, everybody can't afford 2 or 3 hundred bucks to be cool when it really only takes 34 bucks, and as for the leaking destroying the aimophere, well what about the shit coming out of your tail pipe, nobody seems to worry about that

Everything is known to cause cancer over there. In SC, FL, and other states no one cares if your car has a tailpipe or what's coming out of it.

"09" 65k SoCal, My unit is very weak also. of course the heat in this part of the world can get extreme, so I do put a little of the blame there, I think I will take it in and have it looked at. I do know that my next Tacoma will be a white one.

The exact conditions that you described is exactly how it occurs with mine. Great operation until at a standstill for an extended period of time on a very hot day.

I have my sentiments about e fans and the conversion over a clutch driven RPM based fan. Both have their pros and cons. If I was to get a fan it would only be the pusher one for aiding the AC at idle.

It's true. Systems go low as HVAC systems have an allowable leakage rate.

This is why it is advised to perform an AC service on them once a year in the automotive industry. To make sure you are topped off to the correct amount of refrigerant and not making taxing the compressor due to low levels.

Slightly rev the motor when sitting and you will see an improvement as well.

This is what I've been doing. 2K to bring the temps down, but you shouldn't have to go and do all that just to get temperatures down to an acceptable level. Not to mention you are consuming necessary gas and in my case making extra noise by doing so.

Rev for higher fan speeds/air flow. Sounds like the end of this thread, install an electric fan.

@anthony250f installed his and he says it didn't help much at all.

I believe Toyota has their fans wired in to increase speed based on pressure increases or RPM increases, like there is a cut off after a certain point supposedly. If I wire in a fan like that I would want to do it right.

Yeah at idle it’s still not the best, but it is somewhat better and does cool faster.

I need to clean my fins and re check, they are dirty

Same issues with mine, OP. Warm air at idle, but it cools off quickly when I begin to drive. The fact that it has been 100+ degrees where I live probably isn't helping matters.

I've noticed my taco doesn't blow near as cold as my other vehicles since I've owned it I've taken it to two different shops, had vacuum pulled, flushed and recharged with no change... and they both said nothing was wrong. The main thing I've noticed is that the highest blower setting seems really weak and when the truck is at a stop it really has a hard time keeping up. Even just stopped at a light for half a minute is enough to cause it to get a bit warmer.

Don't get me wrong it blows cool and I'd say it's acceptable but it's pretty weak in comparison to other vehicles. If I lived somewhere cooler I probably wouldn't even notice anything.

Toyota didn't install an electric fan on this truck, it's a clutch fan hence why higher rpms helps cool the truck off. In your case I'd wire the electric fan to a switch and turn it on when you are parked trying to be cool.

I'm wondering if the switch would be the most ideal. To me I want to eliminate switches and clutter in the interior and make everythingself sustainable, so I'd rather wire in an auto on at idle e pusher fan.

I realized last summer that there was a lack of airflow at idle and have been looking for solutions since then, but I stopped because it got cooler out. So here I am in the dead of summer again in misery in the same boat I was last summer. Lol.
