What is the ECT Button?

Dealer told me it has something to do with towing, but I don't know more than that. What does this button do, and should you just leave it on all the time?

 

Try driving with it on and if you prefer it, just leave it on. No harm in that. A lot of people vastly prefer the way it drives and leave it on all the time.

Makes the throttle more responsive, holds gears longer, and makes the engine hold rpms longer when you let off the gas

 

You can kind look at it like a tow haul button.

 

Makes your truck go “woo wooo”

 

I thought the whistle tips did that??

I am in what feels like the minority around here and prefer the way it drives with it off. I do a lot of highway and when I push the button it hardly ever gets to 6th.

 

You add whistle tips and it’ll make your taco go “woo woo woooo”

 

I never used it until I threw some bigger tires on the truck. To me, it just feels better with it on now.

I rarely ever use it myself. I just drive it now.

 

I rarely use it. I only use it when I need immediate power to pass someone or to pull out in traffic when cars are coming.

 

I got a midsize truck to save some gas money, so I don't use it, unless I towing. The normal rpm range is just to laggy to tow with.

 

essentially it holds gears a little longer allowing the car to get into the power band easier, it might also make throttle a little more responsive (?)........think of it as a "sport button"...

i only really use it when im merging on the highway

 

I don’t use it unless I’m towing and usually turn it of when I get up to speed (depending on the terrain).

 

It changes the transmission shift points. Good for towing and a little extra umph when you need it.

 

Use it when towing. Makes a huge difference.
