So I’m thinking about getting a tonneau cover for my 2018 TRD. I would prefer a hard top, tri-fold cover that you can also open and shut the tailgate without lifting it up. Any suggestions?

I went OEM when I placed my order, but it was highly recommended by several other Taco owners I know with and without the OEM cover.

I spent a few weeks researching this. I bought the Rough Country. It's the same manufacturer as the Leer Trilogy but costs a few hundred less. The only difference is no LED lights. It removes quickly to haul my dirt bike and installed really easily. I'm about a month in and know I made the right decision. I'm surprised it doesn't get more love here on TW.

Bak Flip MX4 is what you are looking for. I really like the flush mount.

I’m digging the flush mount... how well does it keep out rain and dew and such?

Bak Revolvers are roll up covers that are flush mount like the Bak MX4.

Definitely not water tight, but I was pleased with the minimal amount. Most was around the tailgate. It has channels in the tracks and up front drain tubes on each side that run down to the drain holes in the bed. Check out this YouTube installation video.

Pdog7. I'm looking at the MX4. were you able to keep the OEM utility rails or use them for the install? Do you have the new struts that I saw somewhere on youtube? Are leaks bad or just a few drips? Any feedback would help me. I love the flush mount look. I have 2018 OffRoad 6' bed

You can reinstall the rails and I looked at reviews saying it still leaks or keeps it fairly dry. There’s a tube that you can feed through the truck bed to drain the water on the side channels

The cover comes with relocation brackets that drop the OEM utility rails 3". It does leak some, but not terribly. It comes with drain tubes on either side that direct water thru the holes already in the bed.

Thanks for the response. I think that will be my choice. I will not mind a few drips. As someone said on this issue, I'm not going to keep my passport, birth cert. etc. in the bed of my pickup.
Are the struts new (auto pop-up) or same, that you lift into a slot?

You have to lift and place them in the slot. Auto would be cool though.

Looks cool. Maybe it’s only available for the full size. There is a cool tool box feature that is only available on the tundra model also.

I just put an Extang Encore "Tonno" on my 2018 ACLB. You can open and close the tailgate without lifting it. You can also lift the 1/3 that is closest to the cab for quick access to that area of the bed. It has its own lock, and it uses whatever key you already use for the tailgate lock. Removes completely without tools, too.

Sorry just saw the message. I'm not as active as I should be here. Gimme a few minutes. Tailgate opens and closes no problem. It's nice to have a locking tailgate and it comes off easily to put dirt bike in the back.

Does the front third of the Rough Country open up? Or do you have to remove the entire cover like the OEM cover?
