Locked front and rear, bumpers, sliders, cage etc..33" Cooper STT PRO's. Mild suspension lift.
With an ADD to Manual hub swap this piece will also eliminate the stub shaft in the ADD diff, which is a good thing for those that may wonder.

Can you elaborate on this? Just curious is all I don’t know much about the 4x4 system yet in these trucks I’m trying to learn as much as I can

That’s why you want this tube. It eliminates the ADD gear stub and ADD actuator.

It’s rather difficult to remove the ADD stub, @Timmah! had a video on it. I tried using pry bars but it wouldn’t budge. I ended up having to pop open the clam shell and hammer it out of the ring gear.

Luckily my add shaft is already off my diff if it’s that hard to remove.

Ok so your saying basically how the add shaft is 2 parts with that collar that slides via the actuator joins them is a weak point and breaks? And the manual shaft is solid with no weak point. Good to know. Makes sense because I didn’t like how I was gonna have to use a worm clamp to keep that collar in place I was thinking it looked prone to possible failure. I just didn’t know it was called a stub shaft.

You know how the manual hub tube is just one single solid shaft? The ADD variation is in a couple pieces, and a small gear stub is locked inside of the ring and pinion gear. You have to hammer it out with the clamshell apart if you don’t have luck with the pry bars. It’s held it with a snap ring, similar to how your CV axles are held in place.

    Here’s what it looks like:

your not going to have to remove the stub shaft. Because the diff I sold you was not the same diff the shaft was from. Your diff had a manual tube on it.

Ok cool good to know. And even if it wasn’t, the shaft you sold me had that stub gear already out I think, you even showed it to me and told me how all that add lock worked.

I've broken two of this stub shafts over the years, both of which I was able to remove by using a long skinny screwdriver as a punch, driving it out from the driver's side (no clamshell disassembly req'd).

Was this with a locker in the way too? I suspect my stub shaft is fucked, going to be digging into it next weekend. Got a full spare diff so I have whatever parts I need already, once I figure out what the issue is.

Also wonder if you can throw this tube on and remove the ADD system all together? I know a couple second gen guys who have already done this with fj tubes.

Yeah you can remove ADD completely by swapping the tube or just locking the actuator in 4WD and disconnecting the electrical or vacuum lines.

Yes because you go thu the center, next to the cross pin. Like said just above you can ditch the Add entirely with a manual hub diff tube and shaft.

Might be something for me to consider in the future. Less points of failure, and only downside is the ring gear will always be spinning. Which means if I ever blow the front diff I would need 2 cut cv's to get home instead of one, but I think I already have another donor to make #2.

No with manual diff tube you need manual hubs and locks also. So when your unlocked you will never be spinning anything but the wheels. People go this route to put less wear and tear on their cv axles and diff. It would be worse in my opinion to do the manual tube without the manual hubs and locks because you’ll be spinning everything up to the transfer case all the time.
