Alright, So today i decided to go to the crappy car wash that i never go to for a quick car wash. These bastards Left my pass. window cracked, went all the way through the car wash and soaked my seat, carpet and my $500 in dash radio (jvc kw avx720). Mother fuckers are blaming me that i left the window down. When i drove up, i had the A/C on so how is that possible. I dont drive around with the window down and the A/C on. Now i have to take these fuckers to small claims to fix my radio and everything else.
Right now, I have took the fuse out im waiting a week to put the fuse back in and if the radio doesnt work. Im gonna fuck there world up!. lol done with the rant. thx for listening.

Heres my Q. Has anyone had to deal with this problem before and any tips to salvage my $500 radio?

you can do like they say to do with wet cell phones. Put the whole unit in a bag and cover it in rice, seal it, and leave it be for a few days. The rice is supposed to wick away all the moisture.

I hope you're right about having the A/C on and your windows up because in every car wash places, one of their rules is that it's the drivers responsibility to put their windows up and there antenna put away and such...they're not liable for any damages done. I hope you win, give 'em hell.

Im 100% sure i didnt roll them down. My fight is, that there dumbass workers should have seen that the window is down before they took my keys and took my truck to the wash bay and should have roll them up, They do this shit everyday.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on if anything was running and has actually been damaged as a result. Though it is possible to get damage when electronics are off with lots of water too. Hope you didn't try to turn it on, or had it on, while it was still wet.

The rice is a good idea. Rice can absorb lots of water and would act like a desiccant in this case.

yea, i would remove the headunit and stick in a big bag of rice for a couple days. I know for certain that would improve your chances of removing all moisture vs leaving it in the car.

also, i think you might take the hit on this one man. like above said, its always drivers responsibility to make sure the windows are up. It's gonna be your word vs there's with no solid evidence arguing either side.

Yes...True...That rule applies if you were driving your vehicle...But you wern't...They were...and since they're a licenced shop...They take full responsibilty of any damage resulting to your vehicle while in there posession...

I feel your pain but good luck winning that one.

They have just as good of argument as do you - Why would we roll down the window? It makes just as much sense as you saying - why would I have the window rolled down if I had the A/C on?

Ultimately it is your truck and your responsibility to check those things. You can't trust anyone because they will never care about your truck as much you do.

I'd love for you to win but I'd be shocked if you won in small claims.

Your best chances of winning are them not showing up and the judge automatically rules in your favor. But it doesn't mean you will ever get paid either.

You are going to need to have receipts showing the value and the date of purchase. If the judge finds the car wash liable you will only get depreciated value. So if it is $500.00 of damage and the items are a few years old you could get very little or nothing depending on the circumstances.

    You won't get replacement cost.

Let us know how it goes....

I doubt there is any "licensing" for a car wash that obligates them to any sort of damage liability.

My guess is there is a sign somewhere that covers stuff like this. Same thing as "broken aftermarket exterior accessories" and "not responsible for stolen items"

Best of luck getting set up...but I think you've got an uphill fight.
