Decided the truck needed new shoes today. Was at 4/32nds all the way around with some weird cupping and chunking. Went with some 285’s. Should be in some time next week. Tire gods don’t fail me now.

Waiting to pull the trigger on a set of 265/70R17 for my T4R wheels, hopefully the 4th of July sale is worth the wait

Can you discuss where they are rubbing? I was planning on 265/75/16.

SJC3081, it appears the rubbing occurs on the plastic on cab mount which I've trimmed the portion that hangs down and it's still rubbing at wheel lock in forward and reverse. I do not have a lift and these are on a -12 offset rim.

I put FWP AT3W 265/75-16 on my 2015 Off-Road. No rubbing at all. I thought the Pre-Runner was the same as the Off-Road, just no 4WD.

    Question for Discount tire.....

I purchased a set of Wildpeaks (P265/70r17) back in late Oct 2017. This is my second set of the same exact tire. First set of Wildpeaks was glass smooth!!! This set, not so much.

Noticed right away after install that one of my tires (passenger rear) had 9oz of weight. Definitely had a vibration 72+ mph. After 4 attempts of balancing (last one 2weeks ago was road force 6oz of lead) and still a vibration at 72+ mph.....my local discount tire rep ordered me another tire and stated if the road force didn’t fix the vibe, they’d put a new tire on it.
Went in today to get the new tire installed. Different rep today and was informed I’d have to pay a $55 Pro rate. (I did not purchase certs ) . I politely said nope, the other rep told me you’d install the new tire no charge since this has been an issue since new purchase. Rep stood his ground and I walked.

I understand this tire that was obviously not “right” now has 3700 miles on it. My discount tire tried to balance this one tire 4 times since new and I had vibes after every attempt. Every attempt they said go drive it a while and come back if still has vibes. This is a hard vibe to feel in that you have to be cruising 72+ mph for a while to notice it.....

I’ve bought a crap load of tires from this store. Feeling a little pissed.

Called back and the rep that ordered a new tire is off. So asked another rep to ask the manager to call me...

Manager called and notified me that unfortunately Falcon looks at “time installed” as well as mileage or “wear”.....since these were installed back in October, even though they only have 3700 miles on them, Falcon Pro-rates the tire.....so my choices are purchase a prorated new tire $55 or purchase the Discount certificates $72 (all 4 tires) or live with the vibe for the life of these tires....

Contact the guy who told you you would get it for free. I would be surprised if he did not honor what he said.

    Plasticsnaks,

I apologize you are having a vibration issue with one of your tires. We know there are many choices when it comes to buying tires and we value your business. We take out customer service very seriously but in this case, it sounds like we fell short and we apologize for that.

    PM coming your way.

OK, after searching for what seems like forever, I now ave my search narrowed down to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W or GY Duratracs in 265/75/16 but I’m also curious as to how the Falken would stack up against the Mickey Thompson Baja STZ. Is the Falken more aggressive? Does anyone have any pics on their truck of the STZ?

I am pulling mine off after 3k worth of miles. Absolutely the worst tires I have ever purchased. They shake/wobble so bad. Two had high road force when I balanced them, 41 & 38 pounds worth. When spinning on balancer you can see how out of round they are. Able to get the balancer to say 0/0 both sides. I put those on the rear & the best two up front which were not as bad at 17 & 21 pounds. They did not show as much of a out of round appearance when balancing. Test driver revealed wobble at anything over 60mph. Completed another full road force balance & alignment. Same results. Rotated front to rear & as I suspected the wobble was worse. Granted these tires are on the cheaper side but I think a worn out Nankang tire would vibrate less than these Wildpeaks. They look great but unfortunately that's were the greatness ended for me. Thinking Toyo or back to stock Goodyears. BTW running 265/75/16's in standard load. DOT codes were mid 2017 so not that old of a tire.
