Searched the forum and didnt find a general discussion on the DRCC. Close this out if I missed it.

Just realized my '18 SR5 has this feature and it is the greatest thing ever. Cant find much literature on it. Anyone point me in the right direction? Mainly looking for an overview on the system. Questions that come to mind:
    • It seems to turn off at 25-30 mph. Is this always the case or only if the driver has time to get to the brakes manually? Meaning if the system had to really brake hard - would the system braking turn off at 25mph and possibly hit the car in front if the driver isnt quick enough to the brakes?
    • Will the system nudge the vehicle back in the lane if it crosses the lane? I tried testing this out and didnt get any assistance but also didnt go way over the line.
I guess thats it for now. Do others generally like this feature as much as me? Anything I am missing?

Toyota trucks do not get the Lane Departure with Steering Assist as they are not built on Toyotas TNGA platform. Its only an alert.

Also, the DRCC is not full speed like the Prius or Camry (certain models) It will shut off under 25 or so.

Your Pre Collision system will work to prevent an impact between you and the car in front of you and at low speeds its sometimes able to fully stop the vehicle.

    Hope these tid bits help

Cruise control limits begin at about 28mph on the Tacoma, so when your speed drops below that cruise control turns off. not sure why they chose 28, cause most manufacturers have it set to 25.

Not really sure. Just know about every vehicle I have ever driven it sets at that (except my Tacoma).

You’re clearly not from Los Angeles, our question is why we can set our cruise control down to 1mph with dynamic braking and resume of CC...

I had TSS on a corolla i bought a year ago. On long highway drives in traffic, that adaptive cruise is amazing. So much less stress dealing with traffic. Just let it match the car in front, until you can change to the fast lane, and it just does it. No turning cruise on/off. No trying to tune your speed with +/-. When I saw tss was standard on the 18 Tacoma's, i was already sold.

He must live in the middle of nowhere. Any city would benefit from it.

The Tacoma doesn't work that way unfortunately. Would be great on my way home, I'd get up to probably 26mph at least one stretch.

Some other manufacturers have a low speed cruise control for bad traffic, Toyota is very conservative and will only operate the pre-collision at low speeds.

The new Camry actually warns to only use the adaptive cruise control on free-ways and express ways. (we use neither term in canada, we have highways)

My wifes NX has the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. At first, she thought she would use it all the time, but found that in rush hour traffic, if you have a set gap, and even at the lowest gap setting, if someone should cut in front of you, the car jams on the breaks, so if the car behind you is not paying attention, they could potentially rear end you. This happens way too often in Hawaii rush our traffic so she hardly uses it now. I am not sure if the Tacoma system reacts the same but if so, then you just need to be aware depending on your driving circumstances.

Can you change the minimum speed with any if the software used to manipulate the ECU? Just drove a new RDX and the acc stayed active even at full stop. Made traffic tolerable.
