I would guess blocks and spacers. They seem fairly common in the full size truck world. That's all I see on the Super Duty forums, very few lift the trucks right.

 

Ah too bad! Looks like they just replace the bump stops? That should be super easy to install.

I haven't noticed an issue with weight in the bed, but I put a trailer with maybe 600 lbs of tongue weight on it and it probably lost 3". Must be the leverage on the hitch being worse that's the difference.

Probably just blocks in the back and cranked torsion bars (or maybe replacement keys) up front, actually.

 

That's all they do, replace the bump stops. There's a bracket that spaces them down a bit so they engage sooner than the bump stops would but they're not hard to install at all. I didn't like the porpoising effect I got with a trailer attached and the Sumosprings helped with that. I was also heavy in the rear to begin with because of the cab and tool box in the bed.

 

@jethro I'm pretty sure you can get 5100s for the Chevy/GMC 1500s, or a spacer lift. They use coilovers on the 1500s and torsion bar on the HDs. I think they recommend a diff drop as well.

 

A lot of people used to say it was a 2" max. I only found a law stating that you can only lower a vehicle up to 2" in MA. The lift law goes by the formula.

 

The law does, but the rmv regs are basically no lifting/lowering. Similarly MGL states 4x4s can have tires outside of the fenders but RMV regs say no tires past fenders. I believe inspection stations just follow rmv regs.

 

540 CMR is the RMV regs. I think it's their interpretation

The 2" max is for non 4x4. The 4x4 MGL is a separate document
