My first post after getting my truck, first of all thanks for all the great info, learning a lot already. I attempted to search and couldn’t find an answer to my question.

I am looking at the 12V Electronics plug and play remote start kit. According to them, they use the CL6 app for smartphone control add on. In looking at App Store, the Directed and Viper SmartStart apps appear to be more streamlined with better overall development.

Is there a way to use Directed or Viper solution with one of these plug and play systems that you see on this forum? I thought it may be challenging with activation and subscription setup.

Great! Did you buy the smartphone module from KB Voodoo or elsewhere? Was it easy to activate?

For anyone else, is there a plug and play version that works with Directed or Viper that doesn't require the 9 wire splicing?

Is there additional cost or membership needed for the Directed phone App? My next mod is a remote start.

I ordered the module from Amazon. At the time I did it, it was easy to activate. Just have to act as you're an installer through their portal.

I have heard rumors that 12v system has a plug and play remote start. My kit I had to slice the wires, but what I ended up doing was tore the jackets back on the oem wires and soldered the wires from the dball onto those wires so I didn't have to cut any wires nor had to tap into any wires either

Yes, there is an annual fee for the phone app. I think I pay $83 a year

I have the CL6, It is fine. I can see voltage, gps position, start, stop, lock and unlock. And it works on VZW network. I do have a feeling that the system by directed will work because it has a couple of different adapters. But you may have to wired it to get power.
Also the module for CL6 includes service for one year.
I see what you mean, but I dont see anything wrong with CL6, besides the name...

That’s very helpful, to see your experience which has been positive. I guess I worried that the CL6 company may not be around for a while and then be stuck with a module and subscription that’s no longer valid whereas Directed has been around for years and is more than likely not going anywhere.

That is a very good point. Just so you know the module that came with 12v solution says directed on it. And the cell is set for DEI. I guess is just a gamble. I was worried but Viper is usually overpriced.. Did you ask the guys from 12volts solutions? They may know the answer .
    Good luck

Subd to hear more. Planning on getting the 12Volt Solutions kit also. Heard it has a free subscription for the 1st year & cheap pricing for 1,3 & 5 years. Think 5 years was only $53?

Correct on the CDMA, so if you guys are buying online for from a dealer at a discount verify the cell module is a 4g/lte. I am not sure those qualify for the 5yr discount as I show it's 1 yr free and 29 a yr after that. I sell the carlink ascl6 module with my fortins.

Thanks for the info guys. I have Verizon & have been hearing about the 5G upgrade. Sounds like its rolling out in Houston but I'm sure it will quite some time before it rolls out in my area. Definitely want a smart start of some kind since the factory fob range will be useless where I work.

They also make 2 way remotes that have 3500ft range.

That would require a different system that isn’t plug and play like the ones mentioned in this thread to add a 2 way remote with longer range, correct?
