I have an 06 Tacoma. Trd prerunner. White. Does anyone else have a problem with this year range and white looking flat and Black crud collecting on the bumper that’s impossible to get off? Also any solutions or help to get this crud off and to stay off would be killer

How do you polish and wax the truck?

    How often?

Once a year I do a good wash and wax. Clay bar. And it takes a ton of scrubbing with a magic eraser to get that weird black crud off. I bought it in 16 and this issue already existed. I don’t know if it’s a neglect from previous owner that I’m never going to beat or what

I can’t argue with that. But it gets the lazy drive through wash way more often. I just mean the good old day of polishing and waxing is once a year.

My white 05 looks just like the day it rolled off the assembly line. Always garaged, hand washed only, waxed at least twice a year. Dings touched up as I find them.

I've got a white 15'. It seems to hold dirt really well too. I guess just frequent detailing is part of super white life.

Toyota's super white doesn't have a 2nd stage clear. It takes more maintenance to keep up. If the previous owner neglected, it may be difficult to bring back. If it sits in the sun all the time, that adds to it also. Hopefully you get some responses to bring it back, but once it starts, it's difficult to turn around.

Suffering from the same. If you let it go its hard to get the dirt and crud out. Almost like it stains the paint. There's run marks going down the rear fender on both side a from where dirt was underneath the bed cap. Tried everything to bring it out. Previous owner never bothered with it.

Thank you! I’m glad to hear someone with a similar problem. I see it on a lot of their white trucks in that year range. Also on a sequoia the other day

Clay is fine, for what it does.

But you really need to follow with a couple of steps of polish with a random orbit polisher and proper pads before you wax.

If the vehicle is prepped/polished properly it will look 'done'. The wax is just to protect the cleaned up paint and maybe add a bit of depth of look.

I’ve thought many times that a proper buffing may help it. But I’m not experienced in the process and it’s not one that allows for a lot of mistakes. But it may be YouTube time and learn.
