I would add roof racks over the cab and mount the RTT there as opposed to over the bed/topper. I've seen a lot of conflicting reports on weight limits for toppers (tho some are specifically made to hold 500+lbs).

    Just my $0.02

Leer 100r, Smittybilt RTT. Got a great deal on the shell used so I'll take the gamble on mounting the tent to it.

Hi. Just got same shell today. Lots of leaking. How was the quality of your inside ie rivets?? Windows??? Fit? Mpg? I always run 20ish mpg. 1/2 tank into shell and running 17.5. Odd. What are your thoughts??

Really liking the look of the overlander on TRD OR and Pro. How is the quality? I felt like the ARE Z on my last truck was just so so.

I like your style good sir :hattip:

Are those wheels the countersteer X in 16"? Which offset and are you running 265 or 285 tires? Any side profile pictures?
    Thanks

Ordering a cap soon...looking at ARE Overland or the ARE Z series. I like the Overland look with the TRD Off Road flairs and stuff.

How does the "bedliner" coating hold up to fading? I am concerned that ARE only covers it for 1 year

This would also apply to the OTR coating as well

    Thanks,

    Brian

Good question. I've wondered the same.

You may want to confirm, but I think the Z series has some big limitations in functionality. No windoor options, limited ventilation with the factory side windows, reduced range of motion on the rear glass window, reduced interior storage at the rear due to the the sloping design of the top. Ask your dealer though, I may be wrong on some of that. And of course those are only cons in my book, those previously mentioned 'limitations' may be non-issues for you.

I didn't notice too much of a difference with the shell on. I was first concerned with the lip of the shell, where it comes near the top rear of the cab. It sticks up just a hair, enough to catch air and shove it down between the rear cab windows and the front of the shell. But like i said I haven't really noticed a mileage drop. It's hard to tell because I got bigger tires and wheels at around the same time.

I would just ride it out for a while and increase your sample size - half a tank of comparison isn't the best, haha!

As far as fit, I don't have much leaking either. The only time i notice leakage is when I power-wash it and hit it just under the lip - a little bit of water seems to come through. But other than that, it's pretty sealed.

If you for sure are getting some bad leakage, there are some guys on here that put some goo near the corners, side rails, etc. to seal it up a bit more. I would search around for that.

I have a long bed so the reduction in space isn't a huge deal. I just want something to hold up and not look like crap in a year.

Understood. At the price of these things, they’d better hold up for a while.

I had a Leer XQ (Leer’s equivalent of the Z) on my LB 2nd gen. All of the cons I mentioned were issues for me at some point in the 7yrs I had that truck/topper combo. Just thought I’d mention them. But as previously stated, they may not be issues for everyone.
