Easily about 40K miles on it. Daily beatings and abuse, happily shifts like a champ too.

I am not inclined to tell you how long the valve body will last as previously mentioned there are too many variables at play, but this is a Toyota we are talking here. These will last much longer than a GM tranny or valve body because they actually build them with some endurance and longevity in mind. All we are simply doing is tightening up some of the slop they allowed in the build by installing this kit.

I didn't replace any of the internal components when I installed the kit. At the time of inspection inside the valve body everything had a very tight fit and showed very little if any signs of wear at all.

I think a lot of transmission shops might over exaggerate the wear factor. It makes sense because that gets them more business. No clue how much wear is inside the work truck but I can tell you the poor slop has been beat not babied atleast half of it’s life before I got it.

You just need a rehaul of the valve body is all. That shudder will go away due to increased line pressure and better clutch clamping power. If it does not, there is one other solution we will try but involves adding in some tranny fluid additive, but I refuse to try that until absolutely necessary.

I am not sure that my recent huge spike in schedule activity will allow me to help out with something like that, especially if there is no rack present for the vehicle to be on.

I can probably get it done on my own. Just helpful to have a backup phone a friend if need be. Probably gonna pull it in two weeks.

Well bad news. Just put the tranny back together cleaned up the bench and found a small part that must have fell out. Guess who gets to pull out the valve body again... this guy.

I think when shuffling the valve body upside down etc a small square fell out. So back to the drawing board.

I know what you’re talking about, you’re supposed to coat it with assembly grease. They show it in the IPT video.

Nope. I got all that stuff in there. This is a retainer for a valve in the actual valve body. It’s holds one of the various rods in place. Not sure which valve. I think 3-4 piston. Because is slipped pretty bad on my test drive.

Why would you go for a test drive when you have any leftover parts?...
Quick way to fuck your transmission up!

Didn’t realize it till after test drive.

It’s now fixed. Just something to be careful of if you mod yourself. Quick dissembly and reassembled we are back in biz. It was the square retainer for reverse. No more slipping nice firm clean shifts

So what about the TC shudder? Did you do the HD or regular kit? How many miles on your truck? What fluid did you use and how many miles on the trans? Did you add any lubegard?

2009 4x4 dcsb Trd Offroad - super charged- marlin crawl box and fj cruiser twin stick
    - did the hd kit from ratio tek
    - used about 8 quarts with some waste due to the swap
-78k miles on entire drive train - shutter happens before crawl box and new drive shafts
    - no lube guard

After some test drives i still get the shutter so i am thinking it’s the tourqe converter.

Probably is the Torque converter. What brand/type of atf did you use? I have a bunch of Maxlife I bought on sale at napa so I’ll probably use that if I ever get around to doing this on my 07.
