BBQ and bs meet up fiesta island

@AY_ARONTRD @eccracer104 I've been on hold at the number that Aaron gave me so haven't spoken to anyone yet. However, I've been googling info about the OTL tournament and have a concern about access to the Island on 7/14. I looked at the Paid Parking rules at the following website (http://www.ombac.org/over-the-line/otl-parking/) and it says... "Access to Fiesta Island is often closed (early to mid-morning) to motor vehicles each day of the OTL tournament". "I think once they close it off, it is shut down for the day so if people miss the cut-off they may need to park off-site and shuttle in. Not ideal if you have coolers, etc. Don't want to be a downer but unless we can get clarification, we may want to postpone this event to another weekend. Just sayin'...

 

Sounds good, Never been to Fiesta Island. Is it going to be easy find what spot you guys will all be at?

Fiesta Island has a one-way loop that goes around the island (counter clockwise). We typically snag a spot that is about 3/4 to 4/5 of the way around the loop. You will see a bunch of Tacomas parked on the sand (right side of the road). Not easy to miss. However, see my comment above. We are trying to determine if the meet up needs to be moved up a week (7/7) due to the OTL tournament that is schedule for the 14th. The concern is that access to the island may be restricted.

 

I say move the meet to @eccracer104 house!! both weekends

I just got off the phone with "Park Ranger Richard" and he definitely said that once the island fills up on 7/14 car access will be restricted and you will need to take a shuttle to get on the island. Those of us who get there early would be fine but anyone getting there later in the day would be SOL.

That said, I think we should reschedule this event to 7/7 (or whatever date in the future that doesn't conflict with the OTL event).

@AY_ARONTRD... it's your call since you put this thing together.

 

See I knew that was going to end up being the problem. 7/7 it is! Early birds would have been fine but everyone else would have been screwed. I know some people are planning to join us after the cleghorn run so that would have been all bad. Thanks @sdsurfer for the follow up!

 

Aaron... If you are able to change the title of this thread, you may want to list the date in the title so people are clear on the date.

 

Mark... Sorry for the run around on here but we just made the decision to change this event to 7/7. There is a very popular Over the Line tournament on 7/14 and car access to Fiesta Island will be restricted that day. Hope you can still make it.

 

No worries, wont be able to make it on the 7th but for sure next one you guys plan hopefully.
