Need some recommendations for machine, or custom wheel shop that can bore out some wheels.

As the title says, I need to find a machine shop that can bore out my wheels. I bought some wheels, that apparently won't fit the front hubs because they can't clear my dust caps.

I posted a thread about it here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/having-a-problem-mounting-wheels-need-some-quick-advice.556376/

If the shop is open at all tomorrow, (I know its unlikely, since its 4th of July, but if I can't get it done tomorrow, I have to wait another 3 weeks before I have time because of work, and even then it'll have to be on a weekend), that would be ideal.

I live in Pasadena, but I'm willing to drive almost anywhere throughout the greater LA area to get this done tomorrow.

The wheel company recommended The 3 Amigos in Baldwin Park, but I can't seem to get in touch with them.

It may be more economical to sell the wheels to someone who’s vehicle they fit and buy yourself a new set. Last time I had some wheels bored it cost between $300-400

holy shit, really?? The rep at Relations said they'd be about $15 per wheel... If its that much to bore them out, then I'm definitely not going that route.

It may be. I didn’t shop it around when I did it. I just took them to the first reputable shop that said they could do it.

I just called a shop in Baldwin Park, and they said $35/wheel. which is still more than I though it would be.

but they're not open tomorrow anyway.

I don’t think you’ll find any shops open on the 4th

Won't that weaken your wheels? If you plan on doing any off roading I would think twice about boring them out... :notsure:

I'm not actually widening the full center bore. The way the wheels I have were made, the center bore is actually 108 mm, but the center cap on them is narrower. I guess they weren't made with the knowledge that the 4x4 hub/dust cover is bigger, so they don't clear that and mount properly without a spacer or boring that "lip" out.

you can what I mean in the thread I linked, in post #2, from the front, and post #40 from behind the wheel.

Gotcha... hope you're able to get them worked out without too much expense.

Not sure what the problem truly is.. When you say dust caps, do you mean the hubs or the plastic inserts for the wheels?

Ooops didn't notice the thread pics. I may be able to help but it'll probably have to be this weekend and the shop is located in Redlands.

If the wheels sit flush on the hubs with a little grinding on the cap just do that.

Thanks man, but unfortunately I'm out of town this weekend, and if I didn't have an unrefundable flight I would probably just cancel the trip to take care of my truck lol Ithink it might take a little more than just some grinding... It seems like the whole lip part might need to be machined away.

Looks like I'm going to have to just go the spacer route because I can handle that myself during the week.
