I've heard some don't mind the auto crawling.. I've never been in one though, i've only ever been in a '85 22re manual

 

oh I just meant down the road.

my 89 pickup was manual 22re and my 85 4runner was auto 22re (that I converted to manual) and they both were just stupid sluggish on road. fine off road, but I hated the automatic period.

gotcha, the 85 i had was on 31's so nothing huge with stock gearing. I could old 55 well with stock gearing.

so no comment on any rock crawling, just local trails.

I bought this truck drove it around and had engine sold out of it within a week of buying it for same price I paid due to frame rust.

 

yeah the engines are great, reliable, just low power. my Tacoma was my first v6 vehicle haha!

 

I drove a manual 4 cylinder 99 dakota.. think about this, they were the first midsize trucks.

it was regular cab, but damn slow. i did get hand calculated 27mpg when grandma'ing it lol

 

I had an 98 extended cab, barney purple Dakota with the 318 and higher gear ratio. That thing would run like a scalded dog.

 

lucky, but I was 16 and my dad didn't want me driving the nice f250 daily so he got me a 1700 dollar truck lol..

plus i hit a few deer in it and you could barely tell

 

I actually had a Dakota right before owning my Tacoma. Was my high school/college truck before it sprung oil and coolant leaks all over the engine and transmission. Loved that truck. Had the 4.7 V8, never had trouble towing or getting up and going when I wanted to. Wish I would have kept it and fixed everything.

 

i loved mine had it from 16 to 24 and sold it for $200 less than I paid.

so minus maintenance and tires I'm solid
