My F350 blower isn't that strong to me but it does work well enough on a 95-100 hot day

Ding ding ding. This guy right here wins dick of the thread award. Push the cold button to make it cold? No Shit Sherlock. Even Ray Charles couldve seen that one.

The amount of douche in your post me want to call a mod in here to exile you into the 3rd gen only section. Thank you for your solid contribution.

    Moving forward now..

I believe an F250 motor is much stronger than ours. It's been a while since I've been in one though to say for sure.

Right, but we are attempting to increase blower overall output speed in this thread as well. The blower only puts out whatever temperature air is going through it.

if the evaporator isn't getting cold, more air flow inst going to do anything

I get about 54*F while this issue is hapoening. There is still cold air coming out, the fan is partly the problem though because the fan is not capable of pushing more air out than what it is able to.

Pushing air faster thru the evaporator will not make the air colder. It will circulate the air in the cab faster tho.

This pretty much seems to be a common ailment with 2nd Gens. Finger-numbingly and nipple-hardeningly cold at speed, but about as powerful as a fart in a hurricane at idle. I drive a 2010 RC 5-lug (2.7L/4-speed slushbox) I've found that turning on the recirc alleviated this problem when sitting for extended periods of time.

Also, my A/C worked fine from new (September 2009) until June 2017 when I noticed it was blowing cold out of all but the far right vent. I brought it to my dad's mechanic almost immediately. He pressure-tested the system and found no leaks strangely enough, so he charged the system. He got it down to 38F and it worked fine for the rest of the summer.

In mid-April 2018, it was unseasonably warm in my area, so when my girlfriend and I went to a car show in New Jersey, we used the A/C. Just like a year before, it was blowing ice cubes out of three of the four vents, with the far right vent putting out air that ranged from barely cool to borderline humid.

I brought the truck back to my mechanic and he pressure-tested the system once again, finding no leaks for a second time. It's obvious there's a leak somewhere, so he charged the system again and added a UV tracer dye.

Now, we are going through a record-setting heat wave (screenshot of current weather for town where I work included). My A/C has been doing exactly what you've been describing for years, but only in this extreme heat well above 90 is it really noticeable.

If I'm on the highway for a long time, even if it's in the triple digits, the A/C in my Taco gets so cold that I have to turn it down to "III" or even "II". Most of time, however, I find myself keeping it on "IIII" and closing the two right vents to make it blow harder on the driver side.

If your far right vent is blowing warm, then it's a sure sign you need a recharge!

Oh, and my dad drives a 2013 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD with about 94K on the clock. He bought it new and has never had to have the A/C serviced. However, as a result of the current heat wave, he noticed that cooling performance would rapidly decrease when he was not moving.

My friend was having the same issue with the A/C in his 2014 Jeep Wrangler.

I don't know what the exact weight of the oem fluid is but it is a silicone fluid with a viscosity of probably about 3K CST. I put 10K CST in mine. 50ml worth. I started with the whole bottle at first and the fan locked up too much and too often. I removed about 10ml and it works well now. My ac is MUCH cooler now in extremely hot temps but the downside is you definitely feel the fan resistance as the engine feels sluggish until you get up to speed for awhile.

    You can find it here.

I hope people don't start putting this in their rear or front diff and asking about LSD additives

    I remember this NOS issue.

I did a quick scan of the 12 pages of postings, lots and lots of info. I read through the Users Manual and on page 251 Toyota makes mention of a "feature" where the AC system will go from recirc to non-recirc air on its own. They mention if there is an ambient temperature drop. I am sure that this is to prevent the evaporator from icing over. I high humidity situations this can happen faster than normal due to the amount of mositure being removed from the air... it is part of the process. Is this "the" problem, no, not really. The problem as I see it is this is a fixed system, fixed fan speed, fixed temperature setting etc. I could not discover if the AC system in question is of the CCOT (Clutch Cycling orifice tube) or an expansion valve system. Both systems work off of pressure and temperature differentials. Driving down the highway everthing is fine, lots of airflow over the condensor the compressor is operating at a pretty fixed rpm, in other words, optimal conditions. Come to a stop or slow down and everything changes. less airflow, pressure rise etc. The CCOT system has a fixed orifice so to change the pressures which change the tempurature the compressor clucth cycles, not the quickest reacting. With an expansion valve system, the pintel opens and closes allowing more of less freon across the gap. The smaller the gap the greater the temperature drop of the freon, quicker reaction. Factor all of this PLUS the ECU mixing the blend doors for the heater and a fixed fan speed. This is a compromise type system and not a fully automatic AC so unless there is a real problem it just might be the way it is.

put it in N when stopped and rev to 1k RPM to keep cool
keep RPM over 1500 in gear
Been doing that since 88 on my Toyotas with a fan clutch

My 88 toy 4x4 would ice up a lot on humid days unless running it at high fan speed

I have an automatic, but if I rev the engine while stopped, the A/C blows colder...

I might give the 5k a shot. Do you have a write up on how to drain and refill?
