Just finished installing the four door speakers. Tweeters done a few weeks ago. All I can say is thank goodness. This truck needed these speakers pretty bad in my opinion. It totally transforms the sound system. I could not be happier! In fact the more I think about it, the factory speakers are offensive. Spend $30K+ on a truck for total garbage speakers....

Question. When you installed, did you need any more wiring than what came with the sub?

Just my opinion but it seems to me in that location that you would loose some of the feel compared to under the seat.

Yes, I needed to extend the wiring some. I used the ********* subwoofer harness for the inputs, that had plenty of wire. But I ran a dedicated power wire and there wasn’t enough.

Maybe. But I have componenets biamped in the front now and the bass is fantastic. It’s a perfect blend, I don’t want it hammering me under my seat, I don’t feel like I lose anything.

Has anyone installed 2-way kicker 6x9's in the front doors vs the 3-way and is the sound better or worse if known?

I did the tweeter only upgrade. Not super impressed to be honest. I don't know if it's because my oem tweeters were still basically brand new, or the fact I maybe listen at lower volumes then most on here, but I would describe it as a small improvement. I'm not sure I'm going to do the other speakers now.

If the 2-ways you're referring to are the KS and the 3-ways are the CS, then the KS are the better speaker. HOWEVER they need a good amount of power to really shine. The CS line play louder with less power, but they are titanium dome tweeters which sound a bit harsh to me compared to the KS soft dome tweeters. I install a ton of both though.

I would personally suggest getting the component set, regardless of which line you go with. This will get you new tweeters as well as a crossover that makes both speakers play the frequencies they are supposed to.

If you do the others you need a small amp for them. Sounds underpowered without. Just my opinion I know lots of others think it’s fine

Does the kicker hideaway have any kind of break in period. Also noticing that the input (radio, CD, BT) quality makes a huge difference

Every sub has a break-in period. But most people don't actually do that. And yes, audio qualities across sources vary wildly. CD is as good as it gets, radio suffers pretty bad, and bluetooth just takes a dive bomb. Even if you're playing high quality files (iTunes downloads, Tidal, but NOT most streaming services) you need to play through USB for good results

You matted the door panel or you matted the door inner metal frame? or both?

Not an extreme enough one to make a huge difference. Mine really sounds great under drivers seat. Where you mount it? Also mess with the gain / bass knob

Installed it behind the rear center seat. Best buy did it for $100. Sounds really good on the right inputs.

What are your gain and bass knobs? I also had them install the controller remote to the left of the steering wheel.

I will say tho that even without a huge about of power behind it, it really balances the mids and highs nicely.
