I meant that the back is not flat haha. It is the same ebay grill you got, I used the link you posted in the other thread. I'm not even going to bother with lining up screw holes, sanded down the back of the garnish to make it completely flat so I can double sided tape it to the grille

Well, guess that's that...can't fight city hall as they say. I've ordered the OEM Garnish....the thing is damn ugly and shame on toyota for not having a better looking solution, but hey what do you expect you only pay 40 grand for the truck, you can't expect perfect!

Is there anyone near St Louis that knows where I can get a Pro grille (OEM). I tried with my dealership and they refused to order one for me.

They are all over ebay ... just have to sift through the knock offs.. but why not just go replica anyways?

I would prefer to spend the extra $$ and hopefully buy a better quality piece.

Interesting drive home tonight, about ten miles and no failure. I still have the original ghetto Garnish installed. I used the adaptive cruise and it worked perfectly....really strange.....

My guess is that your error is coming from having painted your piece of plastic. If there is any metallic component to it, that could mess with the radar. People have used unpainted black kydex and have had no issues.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about recalibration after a lift. The TSS is not exactly a precision instrument; meaning, when you adjust sensitivity you aren't specifying centimeters or inches, you are specifying large zones. Raising or lowering the sensor a couple inches won't change that much. If you slam your truck, then you may decide that the longer zone works better for you; if you get a huge lift, maybe the closer zone.

    Ok peeps, an update...
After several hundred miles my TPS system no longer is failing. I’ve been driving with it intermittently fail for some time and I was just ignoring it until I get time to change out the Ghetto Garnish to the OEM unit. Frankly, I think I just got used to it so I only noticed recently that it not failed. So I did some testing over the last few days and not a single failure. I’m not sure if the system is self learning or what but my TPS is working normally. So, if you have the Ghetto Garnish, stick with it!

Getting TSS error as well after installing my pro grille. Will see if this error fixes itself.

I'm curious what the failure rate for the OEM garnish versus the Chinese garnish is.
I just put in what I think is a Chinese Pro grille and garnish in my SR5. Right after I started driving I got the clean sensor error. I stopped and wiped it off, and after starting up and driving again I got the same error. Stopped again and put some RainX on the garnish, and it worked for longer (no idea if this actually helped anything or if the system was just recalibrating on its own).
It was drizzling/light rain and about 45*. I disconnected the battery when I installed the grille.
I'm going to drive it some today and see how it does. If it doesn't disappear this afternoon I'm going to reinstall the stock grille. I have to take the truck in for the brake recall tomorrow morning and I don't want it throwing the error while it's there. I can reinstall the grille after I get it back. I'm considering ordering the OEM garnish.

Mine is going off too. Sometimes it’s 1 mile. Other times 10 miles. I’ve got the OEM garnish. eBay grille. I have a lift so it may just need to be recalibrated m, when I first got my lift I also had to recalibrate the TSS. So this may be it. I’ll bite the bullet in a few months when I have to take it for 10K service and ask them to recalibrate and do the transmission TSB. I’m not stressing it. I love my taco too much for this to annoy me. It looks amazing with the pro grille.

I didnt try without it honestly... the general consensus was that you dont want to risk damaging the sensor so i just got the garnish
