I tried the "search" function and did not find what I was looking for.

So, a quick question for anyone that has relocated their rear sliding window switch.

Will the factory wiring harness to/from this switch on the driver side reach if I moved it over to the center console like it is now on the 2018 model? I don't want to have to diddle with lengthen wires if I don't have to. I can't see the switch in it's current location, and the center console seems like a better location, as well as the passenger could operate it if need be.

Further, I have plans to put a tailgate lock switch in the slider window switch old location.
This switch will allow me to either have the tailgate work via the door remote or be manually locked/unlocked. I don't want the tailgate unlocking/locking with the doors during normal every day activities and would prefer it to just stay locked. However when camping, fishing or higher tailgate usage times, I could flick the switch and then use the remote.

Window connector will not reach over the center console without cutting and extending the harness.
Also the window switch is not a standard hole. Here is an example of a custom panel I made to relocate the switch to the console. You can see how the hole has a special recess for the switch

Wires will need to be extended, check!
Switch will need a new panel, check!

Looks like I'll need to order one of your killer switch panels and lengthen some wires, as well as find somewhere that can custom tailgate switch for the other side.
Are their blanks available to fill the empty slots?

Your other option would be to purchase a OEM 2018 lower panel that has the window switch hole already.
Any blank will for the holes.

Can you make a version of this for the second gens? Without the 12v outlet?

No you don't! The factory center switch panel will accommodate the rear window switch. I found this out when I messed up the cutout for the rocker switches I was installing in the cubby above the rear window switch. I ordered a new one but the one I received did not have a place for the rear window switch. Turns out Toyota has discontinued this part. So I went ahead and ordered the 2018 center switch panel so I could install the rear window switch in this location like the 2018 Tacoma's (I have a 2017 Pro). Well when I removed the original center switch panel I went ahead and tried to see what would happen if I slid the rear window switch in the one open blank spot on this panel. Guess what, it snaps right in and works perfect!

For anybody else wanting to move the switch to this location, Lowe's sells a 18 gauge 5 conductor wire by the foot for $.54/FT . I purchased five feet and maybe used a total of four feet for the install. Couldn't be happier with the location of the switch either. Easier to reach and my wife can open it now from the passenger seat.

SO NO NEED TO SPEND OVER $100 ON A NEW CENTER SWITCH PANEL!

    • We could gladly make an extension harness if you guys would be interested so you don't have to cut/splice anything. Not sure what it would be worth price wise but I'm sure we could make it happen just need a length estimate.

That would have been nice to have as it would have saved me a little time and made things a little "cleaner." I would have paid $20 or maybe even $25 for a plug and play extension harness.

Thanks for the input! It would likely come out slightly higher than that but were in the right neighborhood. I’ll test it for length tomorrow and go from there

I wish there was a splitter so that I can install a second button somewhere in the back. Maybe 3D print a small control panel that uses the hangar hook mounts.
