To be honest it's been so long since I've done the research that I can't remember. I just remember reading about them awhile ago and not being super impressed.

Sorry to hear this. I would keep an eye on it and monitor more closely esp before during any decent trips and carry some extra oil. I wouldnt be extremely concerned as you have a fair amount of mileage now. I would check some basic emissions junk as well if you haven't in a while already. As engines age these items help a good bit I've learned the like couple years. Like @EatSleepTacos said a good high mileage oil will help with the seals. Better oil def won't hurt.

You'll be able to see evidence under the cap. If you do, it's a no bueno situation.

What do you mean by basic emissions junk? haha

I am not really worried about that, I already carry oil with me in the truck tool box, and it is not my first engine with oil leaks haha others where really noticeable tho! I'll just adjust myself to this and everything will be fine

If there is oil under that cap, then it is going to be time for a DC haha

I wouldn't worry too much about the headgasket. Change your PCV valve. Engines use oil it's normal the higher the mileage and wear the more they'll use. You may have a seepage somewhere that just isn't enough to hit the ground but enough to wet an area on the engine and then dirt and dust stick to it like glue.

Louis have you tried going with a thicker grade of oil? 10w30 or 10w40 maybe? I had an old Ford with 179,000 miles that I gradually had to change the grade of oil as she got older. Started with 5w30 and when I sold it I was at 10w40 but no more burning oil. Simple fix and it may be worth a try. Like Randy mentioned maybe a high milage combined with a thicker grade will do the trick
