Is 87 tune on 93 octane acceptable for you? Our local 87 octane is minimum 15% ethanol as per CAT sample I sent off. My truck ran horribly on it even before tune and I will not run that crap.

Yes 87 tune on 93 is perfectly fine. I just want to see if the issue exists on the 87.

Ok I’ll flash the 87 tune in the morning when I get home and report back after.

We'll I didn't want to be that guy before OV responded, but that is a classic "BBs in a can" sound of knock, ping, whatever you want to call it. Sure, it doesn't sound like what most people identify as "knock" but the marbles in your engine sound is the same thing. A bunch of pressure waves hitting a rising piston, blowing away the protective gas layer on the pistons and cylinder walls and exposing them to 5k Fahrenheit.

It can be loud like a hammer hitting metal, or sound like that clip. Have you been able to log this phenomena? Would give alot of insight.. You said its not pulling timing, right? That would probably mean its not getting picked up as a knock or misfire by the sensor... maybe they are such small knocks they don't read? Either way, if we can hear it, you would think the knock sensor could, too.

I hope I'm wrong and its something else. But if it starts making that noise in the future, if possible I'd take my foot out of it right away.

The video was taken with 103B of A70 Ecu, with 91 tune and 91gas (always get it at a local chevron). I have yet to try 104 91 tune. How do I get that file? Unfortunately if I have to accelerate hard for merging, passing etc., it will make the noise. Will even come back randomly at around 5k rpms sometimes too. I wasn't a logging guy before so I'm not sure how to do that but can make other videos if needed.

Send me an email support@ovtune.zendesk.com with your ecu I'd requesting 1.04 I'll send it

There is a separate issue some trucks have we encountered a while back where they would have stuttering and pinging if the ignition was changed at all (even just 1* at 6000RPM) and it was fixed by replacing the faulty crank position sensors

    Non-OVTuned here...

So, if I have issues with pinging and loss of power when it happens (even when taking off from a full stop) when i tried running Regular (Chevron) fuel, and been having to use Supreme (Chevron) to avoid it most of the truck's life...

I should swap CPS sensor before getting OVTune?
    Or would OVTune fix it?

Your truck probably has the bad CPS, many of them do. Check if your truck is due for the recall

Even if it's not on the recall list it may still have the old sensor, mine did.

If we have 18 models does it still have a chance of old sensor?

I highly doubt an 18 would have the old sensor. If your so inclined pull the sensor, if it has an equal sign it's the new version.

18 version shouldn't have the old sensors. It was a 16, 17 issue.

I really need to see some logs on these trucks

Is there anyone here who has this or experiences it and has techstream to log?

I have not experienced suck knock or pinging with the test truck.

I only asked because I get a wired noise and it's a loose spacer on my clutch pedal that sounds very similar to that when I do a pull in 2nd at mid rpm.
