Would it be cheaper to buy from mainland and pay to have the Tacoma shipped to Hawaii? I have no clue I’m just curious if that might be cheaper for people that are being forced to pay 6k more than we’re paying.

Some have done that. Depending on how much difference.
You'll need a trusting member to handle all the work.
The more demand , the higher markup. This goes for any luxury, ANY exotic.
A friend did this exact same thing. His brother took care of it. Shipping to Hawaii is about 1k and takes about 15 days.
It's just the hassle of going through the process.
    I'd never do it.

I live in the mountains of NC and my all the Toyota dealers in my area said they sell every Tacoma they can get get as they are so popular of a truck. They got my new 2018 TRD Sport from another dealer and had to drive 800 miles to get it, as they did not have the truck I wanted on the lot. It was the only one in the Southeast they could locate. I went ahead and bought a 2018 because of the possibilty of future tariffs on imported vehicles causing higher pricing on the 2019 models. Also I am an old school dude that has a huge collection of CDs, so I wanted to have a CD player, lol. I got the JBL Premium sysytem as part of the premium package. I am now learning it is very hard to upgrade this JBL System. I have always upgraded or usually replaced stock stereos for years, not on this truck. I hope I can figure that out. Lots of new vehicles do not even offer CD players these days. Also I was worried about any new changes to the 2019 models and if they would still be offering Blazing Blue Pearl as a exterior color. Could not find any info on 2019 TRD Sports models changes so I pulled the trigger on a 2018, paid cash (cashiers check) and saved $2,106.00 off of MSRP. I was surprised it does not have power seats as an option, but once I got the seat adjusted it is very comfortable for me. I love my new truck, I am retired and plan on keeping this TRD Sport 4x4 forever. I know it will last because Toyota makes such a great product!!!

Happy 4th of July No1 and fellow members!

Picked up my new 2018 DBSC 4x4 M/T TRD Sport MGM yesterday for $32,248 (MSRP $35,708) before $1k rebate and before TTL (CA). Thanks to all the member tips I was able to get almost another $1k off the previous quote.

Thanks for all the info in this thread! Helped me land a killer deal on a 2018 TRD OR 4x4.

Would have had it OTD at 36,250 but they nitpicked my exact graduation date (it was 1 month past 2 years) so I missed out on the full 750. They did eat half of it though so I ended up at 36,625. I’m still amazed with this deal, especially since it only took 2 rounds of negotiating (and MSRP was 38 ish). It being the 4th of July probably made it easier.

For a 2018 cement TRD OR with the tech package MSRP was 39,455 before delivery. Before tax, admin, etc. I payed 34,100. Had them throw in some off road mats as well. Everything here comes with toyo platinum, and it had the paint and door protective film.

I thought the rate there was $995.00 If not, wow... that's GST mafia prices (Which btw are the closest to the plants...lol).

    Options:
Premium Package >>> OF - OFFROAD AUTO 6 SPD 4WD SB........................... Invoice $2,336.00
Technology Package >>> TP - OFFROAD (ALL).................................................... Invoice $686.00
    50 State Emissions >>> FE - 50 State Emissions............................................... -0-

    Accessories:
All Weather Floor Liners and Door Sill Protectors1 >>> 2T - All Weather Liner Plus Door Sill Protectors.......... 144

    Door Edge Guards1 >>> D5 - Door Edge Guards..................................... 85
    Ball Mount2 >>> I don't have a price for this, but it's sub $20 at most places
    Trailer Ball2 >>> I don't have a price for this, but it's sub $20 at most places
    TRD Air Intake2 >>> 3F - TRD Air Filter....................................... 70

    Mudguards1 >>> MF - Mudguards............................................ 80
    5-In. Oval Tube Steps - Black1 >>> R2 - 5" Oval Tube Step Black.............................. 320
    Mini Tie-Downs with Hooks1 >>>RT - Mini Tie Down Loop................................... 30
    Truck Bed D-Rings1 >>> TG - D-Rings.............................................. 35
    $2,941.00

The "Invoice" for this should be $39,316.00

On a side note, they clearly loaded this thing up with everything but the kitchen sink so they could bend somebody over. Personally, I'd walk (no, run) away from this. All of those "Accessories" are "PORT ADDED" (read as dealer add-on) that can be had WAY CHEAPER than the dealer wants to sell them at. At the root of it all, you're still working with an OR DCSB AT which is the most common configuration here and routinely sells in the ~$35K range with Tech.

I'm up in Oregon and the dealer I've been working with on an order informed me that the destination charge is now $1045 as of June. Also, apparently, the baseline cost of my model went up by about $200.

Quotes from other dealers have confirmed, same numbers.

Well, guess that means GST and SET will up their game... $1,500 too unreasonable? I’m headed this weekend where I can get a peek for changes.

Bought a Cement DCLB OR 4x4 with Tech package and all weather mats yesterday for $35,446 plus TTL. Pretty happy with the deal since it was the exact truck I wanted. Probably could have haggled a little more and paid less but wanted to get the deal done.

Meaning I should buy a less decked out one and do it myself after market? (sorry first car purchase so want to make sure I understand everything)

Either way. But I can't imagine you want/need all of those add-ons. It is MUCH easier to talk a dealer into adding things to make a deal at cut rate prices than it is to negotiate the prices down in the first place. Just think about this for a moment... The base vehicle sells in the $34-35K range and they're starting at MSRP of ~$44K. That is a $10K difference that you have to fight down. Sure the invoice is ~$39K... So if you're lucky enough to fight down $5K they'll let you think you have them over a barrel at invoice. You'll have a hard time making another $3K if that would even happen in Cali (hear it's a terrible market - Search the back posts for a few dealership names that were willing near you). BUT, if you start with a OR DCSB AT with Tech or Tech/Premium (if you want that sunroof), you can much easier talk a dealer into adding those extras (roof rack, bed lights, bed mat, etc) while still negotiating at invoice/sub MSRP for them to make the sale.

This thread is a wealth of information... read back at least the last ten pages. It is worth it. Use the resources here (invoice pricing sheet, buyer reported prices).

I bought a 2018 Double Cab SR 4X4 V6 automatic with a window sticker of $33,707.00 for $29,080.18 before tax and fees. So they took off $4,626.82. This is my first Tacoma and I just love the crap out of it. I was looking at the same truck in 2wd with a 4cyl and I'm thankful that I chose to go with the one I did.

I'm a little confused here on the pricing.

I've looked through this thread and downloaded the 2018 spec sheet etc., but I am still a little confused. I'm looking at a 2018 DCLB w/tech. & premium. I'm being quoted $41,700. Based on what I can determine I should be paying $37,000 - $38,000. Is that about right?

If I order one am I to assume that I would be paying closer to the $41,700, since they know this is exactly what I want?
